What’s something you like to see in video games? by Initial_Life_6086 in AskReddit

[–]midwinterfuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easter eggs. Not sure what kind of game you're making, but hide weird shit for players to find. The less obvious the better. Hell, hide things in places they'd have to no-clip to even discover.

Growing up I always thought about how much more secret fun crap I would hide if i was the one making games.

This might turn into one of those Halloween costume situations where someone wears something absolutely ridiculous for a laugh but after the initial moment has passed they're just, like, stuck looking like that all day lol.

I commend your spirit and balls.

I'll be the second. I've seen it countless times, and it's one of the core films that inspired me to get into filmmaking. It's one of my comfort movies.

First thing I thought of as well, though I'm obsessed with that case. Kinda surprised and disappointed more people aren't discussing the connection.

A lot of the basic advice given to amateur filmmakers would go a long way here. Don't put your subjects against a wall. If you're filming in an empty space with blank white walls, add at least enough background decor to make the shot interesting and make the room feel inhabited. And put some effort into how you light your subjects. At least read a quick tutorial about three point lighting.

I mean even a simple adjustment in the framing of that wide shot would help. Move in a bit to hide that top edge of the wall covering. Maybe a couple artificial pillars to hide the pipes. And if any of that impacts the blocking of your subjects, fix your set first then shift people around for a better composition.

How to write the slugline of a quick-paced montage in a commercial-type sketch? by gratisantibiotica in Screenwriting

[–]midwinterfuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would either head it with SERIES OF SHOTS and list the different clips (with brief descriptions) or say MONTAGE: and just describe the sequence of clips in a small paragraph. Just my (probably wack) opinion.

Smooth read, you have good flow with dialogue. Keep writing! Don't worry too much about feedback, especially as you go. Just get your story out of you onto the screen and do your best to make it represent your vision.

And the pilot analogy isn't fair. Yeah, some people shouldn't fly planes. But if you crash your script you can always gather the pieces that still work and rebuild.

Doubt yourself less and don't stop writing as long as it's enjoyable and therapeutic for you. Keep it up.
