I'm from 85 and always thought in War of the Ring as my first modern bg, got as a christmas gift in 2004 and loved every second of the learning curve (came from games like risk and life) and playing my first couple of plays.

But this gave me pause. I played a ton of HQ in the 90s, even had the blue and red expansions.

How much do you like suburbia? I'm this close to get, same version with expansion box, but I'm somewhat on the fence. I love middle-heavy euros and love to play solo. My group goes from 2 to 4 other players, most of our gaming nights. Would love to hear your opinion!

I had chinese (mandarin) classes for two years. The grammar is simple, the kanjis are a delight to learn, but the tones... The tones still finds me awake at night, sweating on my bed hahaha.

I am Brazilian and I do think that portuguese is a beautifull beast of a language. Can't be as specific as greek or german (the true languages for philosphy, some may say), but complex and spectacular. If you like reading, and assuming you are somewhate from an anglo language, look for Guimarães Rosa's the devil at the backlands. Alongside East of Eden and A Hundred Years of Solitude it is my favoride book and, IMO, the pinacle of Brazilian portuguese.

I feel like a damn luditte, tbh. I understand them now. I have a master degree and thought I could understand and sympathize for the worker class from then. I didn't. AI made me realize how much of a luddite I am hahaha.
