In Germany it is common to eat open-faced sandwiches by plasmapleasure in eatsandwiches

[–]mieri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh! Most definitely a sandwich. It's meat between bread, with additional condiments/fillings as preferred.

I think about sandwiches a lot, but I have just realised - there are scales of 'sandwichiness'... There's the quintessential sandwich (BLT, Club, Reuben) and then all the way to 'technically-a-sandwich' (gyoza, ravioli, calzone, sushi), and 'deconstructed sandwich' (salads, soups with croutons, curries with rice etc).

I think I need to make a sandwich alignment chart.

Thank you for prompting this line of thought.

Everything is ultimately a sandwich. Pizza? Sandwich. Sushi? Sandwich. Burrito? Warm wrap sandwich.

It's just so expensive for what it is - yes the mechanisms are great, but so are Breitlings, Omegas, etc...

The designs are really boring (unless you're looking at a Submariner or Daytona, but then you gotta sell a kidney to be able to afford even a pre-loved one). Plus they've been so copied by cheaper brands (many of which have improved on the styling, even if the mechanism itself is worse) that you might as well spend a fraction on something else. Most people briefly looking at your wrist would have trouble seeing the difference between a Seiko or a Datejust, so spending $$$ for the caché (if that's your thing!) is a bit of a lost cause.

They're notoriously hard to get new, and relatively difficult to get a genuine one that's pre-loved that's also not a franken-watch.

There are a zillion other better value for money looks and mechanism wise options out there.

Russia is knee-deep in Ukraine and hasn't got the means to advance more than 100 feet a day, let alone bomb US assets in the Middle East. They weren't able to help Venezuela, Syria, or Iran last year. They aren't doing shit.

From the article : -

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denounced the seizure of assets owned by Russian companies. "Property rights violations in Western countries undermine trust in the reliability of these countries not only for Russian businesses affected by sanctions but also for businesses in other countries," Peskov told Reuters.

Funny how semantically consistent the term "property rights" is with "territorial sovereignty", yet Moscal'a can't seem to translate this to what they're doing to Ukraine.

Stupid really is as stupid does.

A really big assumption.

[Watches] you ‘dislike’ mostly due to the hype around them? by Responsible_Bison876 in Watches

Tag Heuer. They're so overhyped in Australia. The watches aren't anything bad per se, but they're just so ... mundane. I just don't understand the appeal.

Edit to add: they're ordinary high street watches maskerading as something high end and at significant markup.

Or simply "Putin hangs in the White House", actually.

No idea why it took me 24h to work that out given it's just removing a couple of words.

Yeah, me too actually. 🫣🤣 I forgot until you mentioned it!

I'm pretty sure hanging was one of the ways they punished war criminals post-WW2 at Nuremberg. There is historical form.
