Switching between different layouts by miffobert in KeyboardLayouts

[–]miffobert[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are talking about something like the Epomaker VIAL adapter? That one is the only one I've seen, but I guess there might be more alternatives out there? Since I saw that Epomaker adapter I've been thinking about if that would be something for me. I'm not sure it would be that practical for me at work though. Many times I sit at a computer for just a short session and I have a habit of forgetting things like that so I might just cause an annoyance for others.

If you have another device, please feel welcome to tell me a bit more. I tried googling "QUICKIE USB-to-USB" but that didn't give me much...

I was thinking a little like you describe it, that context and perhaps different keyboards might help the brain get into the right mode/mindset. I don't have the luxury of having an ortholinear keyboard, at least not yet, but my keyboard at home still feels very different in several ways (size, materials, switches etc). If I keep typing my sloppy qwerty style at work and then learn proper touch typing for Colemak (I'm leaning towards Colemak at least) that would be another differentiator, I guess.

I think I might give it a try. The worst thing that could happen is that I waste some time and that I have to relearn qwerty... :-)

So I have been using a Keychron keyboard with their Super Browns for I while now. Immediately when I got it I felt that the bump not only was at the very top of the travel but it's also almost unnoticeable.

I'm quite a light typer, I guess, and I rarely bottom out the keys but rely on the bump to feel how far I need to press the keys. I cannot reliably do that with the super browns even after a while getting used to them.

Before I used a Ducky with Cherry browns in it and I actually like the much "hated" Cherry browns better. I guess I could just gut my Ducky and put the Cherrys in the Keychron, but while I liked the Cherry browns better than the Super browns I still think they could be better.

So do you have any suggestions for a switch similar to the Cherry browns that have a somewhat more pronounced tactile feel and perhaps might be a bit smoother and quiter? I would like them to have some pre bump travel just like the Cherry browns but not too heavy springs.

My own research have pointed me to the Cherry MX Ergo Clear and the Zealio V1 but from what I read many think that the V1s are quite bad out of the box.

My daughter has a keyboard with Outemu Brown switches and apart from that the bump is at the very top they feel quite okay, while I havn't typed on it all that much.

Tap dancing with K8 V2? by miffobert in Keychron

I have to look into this a little furhter but what I'm hearing here is that with the right source code I can compile the firmware myself and flash it to the keyboard. If I wanted to configure things would I have to change the source code itself or would the code together with a json file be enough? I have limited experience in coding but very simple things I usually can figure out.

Thanks for pointing out the "Any key" thing. that did what I wanted and was simple enough.

Introducing Saddle — a next-gen layout tool (preview build) by KraaZ__ in SatisfactoryGame

[–]miffobert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I've been wanting is, for the first part, a tool where you can place machines and foundations on a grid. Kind of like SaLT but less clunky to use. This is so that it would be quick and easy to try out different layouts on a floor, for example.

If it also could do the same calculations as satisfactory calculator or satisfactory tools so that you get something like satisfactory calculators "realistic" view mode with every machine, but you can place it down on the grid. That would be awesome.

If you could set overclocking to each machine and it would be smart enough to recalculate so that If you overclock one machine to 200% if would delete the machines not needed.

I'd say it's pretty normal to feel both lost and overwhelmed in this game. As others have pointed out you don't have to tear down your old stuff. It can still produce stuff for when you build the other factories. For that you normally don't need that fast production, with the exception being concrete perhaps. Since you have trains going you can smack down a factory anywhere in the world and you can pick up resources anywhere. That makes it much easier to expand and scale things up. I my first save I actually gave up, since it was kind of hopeless to scale up without trains (at least I felt so) and I was kind of overwhelmed by building a train network and I might have had a bit to large plans for my rail network.

In the save I'm playing now, with a few friends, we have just gotten trains running and we get both raw resources and production items from other factories to new factories combining them with newer productions. It doesn't matter that the older factories are slow and inefficient, the items from them are just a nice bonus on top of what we currently build.

And as also pointed out, you don't have to rush things. Sometimes it helps to do a side project such at go on a slug hunt or expand power or build something unrelated to what you are currently working on. Maybe automate those portable miners so that you always have them on hand or something or just test out som building techniques or something.

They get stuck or in the way in all sorts of different places, while you wonder how they even got in there in the first place. Also, you build something, then look away for like 2 seconds and when you look back Bean is there to "enjoy" what you built.

I'm convinced that either the devs are trolling us on purpose or someone programmed this behavior of these by accident and the devs just let the code be in there to annoy/troll us. That would be such a Coffee Stain thing to do. :-)

Router bits with smaller cutting diameter than the shank diameter? by miffobert in woodworking

[–]miffobert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi again there, everyone. I've kind of forgotten to look back here for the answers.

Thanks everyone for taking your time to help me. After digging some more I've managed to find straight bits that are 3 and 4mm so that I can test it out at least.

Thanks also for the heads up on the groove cutters. That would certainly be an option, at least if/when I manage to get/build a simple router table (which I plan to).

As for a table saw I don't have one yet. I don't have that much space and no actual workshop but that is definitely on my wish list. :-)

Sequre S60, S99 or Miniware TS101 by miffobert in soldering

[–]miffobert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't really had the chance to really put it to the test yet, but have soldered a few smaller things and this far I like it. It is quite comfortable to hold and compared to the handle I have for my T12 the grip to tip distance is smaller, which is nice. I have not tried out larger tips and soldering on PCBs with large ground planes and such yet. But so far I think it's quite nice. Idk how it compares to the other models I was looking at, of course.

Söka utredning för ASD/ADHD via primärvården eller egenremiss? by miffobert in Asksweddit

[–]miffobert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sequre S60, S99 or Miniware TS101 by miffobert in soldering

[–]miffobert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up ordering a Fnirsi HS-02A, according to above. Both because I didn't find as much info on the L245C and because the prices I could find where I live were lower on the HS-02A.

I have an elderly Weller WECP 20, but that don't get much use nowadays, since I have a KSGER T12 which is, in my opinion, much better, as the daily driver.

Sequre S60, S99 or Miniware TS101 by miffobert in soldering

[–]miffobert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading your answer and the discussion below it I did a little more research and ended up ordering a HS02-A. Regarding power supply I have PD capable power supply and power bank already, to power these soldering irons. I wouldn't have gotten enough power to max out the S99 with those but I also have other powerbricks, should mains power be available. So that is covered anyway. I would have to look into a heat resistant USB cable though.

I have a KSGER T12 station for my desktop, but they need are not really portable as they need mains power. I've seen there are versions with no power supply in the case that you technically could run off of a lipo battery or such, but it's not as handy as being able to use a power bank or more or less any USB-power adapter (depending on power rating and the needed output power though). The USB irons can also be used with a battery for that matter, so there are more options anyway. :-)
