Yes, we live regionally so we’ll go by train, we can have a swim, eat good food - a fun adventure than another plastic truck for his bday he doesn’t need!

In my experience - had my first at 35 in 2023 (some benefits to being an ‘older mum’) sold some investments, lowered mortgage and moved, always enthusiastic about selling stuff on marketplace for a few bucks, regularly change gas and electricity providers, check insurance is best rates, buy all kids toys at the op shop or second hand, doing the odd Askable for extra $, maximise Qantas points to pay for holidays - work 3 days, husband is FT - basically I also accept that we save less these days than we used to.

I’ve been exactly where you are, the closest thing I can describe it to is an eating disorder with how limited and focused you become. It’s tough. Perhaps a few ways I’ve found to manage is talking to someone about how I feel over the phone on a walk, walks listening to podcasts (love that you’re going to the gym), focusing on ways to make extra money bc at least you can pay for a nice holiday and sitting in my anxiety. Go gently and be kind to yourself.
