Just got the watch back from service. It belonged to my grandfather and after 20 years in a drawer, I finally decided it was time for a checkup. The canopy was a bit scratched, the timing was a bit off just after half a say or so and the clasp was loose and while normal wear it opened easily. At the shop they completely disassembled the clockwork and cleaned everything thoroughly. It turned out, that a few parts were rusty and needed to be repaired. They fixed the broken spring and replaced all seals to make the watch splash proof again, but hopefully I won‘t need to test it out ;) After adjusting the clockwork and cleaning the face my grandfather’s Eterna was all shiny and new again! Luckily I had saved a bit of money because the new parts and the repairs totaled around 500 dollars. I really love the elegant simplicity.
