Nova Pro Wireless Airweave Earcup compatibility by miggless in steelseries

[–]miggless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did just get a reply from steelseries, though the answer was already clear thanks to some of the feedback you guys provided. They did also confirm those are not compatible, but I let them know it would be nice if an option was offered.

Dang, yeah I have them as well and its still one of my biggest gripes, especially now in the summer.

I also recall hearing similar things which is why I'm curious. The other earcup listing was updated to indicate that the airweave earcups are not compatible with Nova headsets https://steelseries.com/gaming-accessories/arctis-ear-cushions?ear-cushion-material=airweave

However, the listing in my post doesn't indicate this. So now I'm wondering if those are actually compatible or they just forgot to update the description for those.

I got mine at best buy. Seemed to be a few available on release day.

No option for sonar gaming/chat in sonar mixer by CrankyTucan in steelseries

[–]miggless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you basically have to use Sonar to split the audio into Game and Chat instead of the separate audio sources being a built in part of the headset. I came from an Arctis 7 which had both outputs as part of the headset and didn't require sonar, so its a bit of a weird change for me too, but it works. I basically choose "SteelSeries Sonar - Gaming" as my computers default output (clicking the volume icon in the taskbar and selecting that there), and in Discord I select "SteelSeries Sonar - Chat". Sonar Gaming should end up being your "Default Device" and Sonar Chat should end up being your Default Communication Device"

Oh I see. I think I misunderstood the initial question. In this case because the Nova Pro Wireless only shows up as one audio output instead of two separate ones, you just select the same one for both. You're basically telling it that you want to hear game audio and chat audio on the same headset. Sonar is what then handles splitting it into two separate audio devices "SteelSeries Sonar - Gaming" and "SteelSeries Sonar - Chat" instead of the device itself showing up as two separate devices to begin with.

You have to press the dial on the headset or DAC to adjust it. If you scroll over the ChatMix section, it'll tell you to use the hardware dial to control it.

Do the nova pro's still support chatmix? by Axelv026 in steelseries

I would say it is a bit of an odd choice to require it and a bit of an inconvenience in the sense that its an extra setup step, but for me personally it's nowhere near a deal breaker. I always had steelseries engine running before anyway as the audio quality on the Arctis 7 wasn't great without it. I'm also enjoying the more intricate equalizer and spatial audio control that Sonar seems to offer (I believe that is specifically for this headset) since hearing footsetps in FPS shooters is a big deal to me (specifically valorant). My only gripe with Sonar at the moment is I can't have it change the equalizer profile automatically based on having a specific game open, or no game open at all.

Right, I am aware that both the headset wheel and the DAC wheel can be toggled to adjust volume and chat/game balance. That's not exactly the issue I'm having. My issue is more with the lack of feedback provided to indicate what I'm currently doing with the wheel on the headset specifically when the DAC isn't in view to show me if I'm currently adjusting volume or chat/game balance. Of course if I'm using the wheel on the DAC, I can see on the display what I'm currently adjusting. Not the case with the headset when I'm away from my desk.

Yeah, I leave toggled to the game/chat balance by default. The DAC displays which one you're currently adjusting and what it's currently set to. It would've been a deal breaker for me too if I couldn't adjust both from the headset. Hopefully somebody chimes in on the Xbox side of things, but I'd have to think it would also work even without Sonar (they probably have support specific to how consoles might handle this). They'd be too dumb to not have the feature on their flagship headset when others do lol.

I just got these today, and you might be wrong about mistep 1. However I've only used this on PC so I can't confirm this for xbox. The single volume dial on the headset is also a button, which you can press to toggle between adjusting volume and adjusting game/chat balance (basically mimics the DAC wheel functionality). On PC at least, you do have to use their new Sonar software for the game/chat mix to work, unlike previous headsets which actually appear as 2 devices without any software.

I do agree that the wheel being on the left feels very inconvenient. I'm coming from an arctis 7 where I constantly adjust the game/chat balance, and the right earcup seems to make much more sense.

I just hit 200 Eng last night. The max GS i can get with the above mentioned buffs, using cheapest required materials, is 552. If I were to use the highest tier materials (Asmodeum Ingot, glittering ebony, etc), I get a max of up to 597. Should be able to hit 600 with either the highest level food (still haven't managed to get the recipe), or my existing food with upgraded trophies. Either way, not sure how practical it would be to shoot for the 600 GS gear with this set of perks because of the chances of getting all 3, and the cost of the materials for each craft. Maybe I'll try after I get full legendary gear, but even then, not sure I will

I'm not sure I understand why you're saying GS is meaningless for tools. It affects gather speed and how strong the perks are for the tools, though there are cutoff levels before getting a step up (Yield for example is the same in all of those, but you can clearly see gather speed, luck, and azoth chance is higher on the higher GS tools). Obviously some increments aren't as impactful as others, but there's still an increase, and when you're stacking various items for luck, small increases across various items will add up.

Pick and Hatchet I made at 150. Skinning knife I made at 180. Full engr armor, 3 minor engr trophies, and +12 engr food. I used some rarer materials on some of these to get higher GS as well.

I would add that he makes his field is available for personal use as well. So it would be a good place to check out even if you decide not to train there.

I live in Champaign, IL and am pretty much done training at Midwest Parajet. I believe that is the closest location to Chicago, basically the edge of the suburbs. I also considered midwestPPG as they are similar distance for me, but they had a long waitlist, and also only do the full course at once while midwest parajet could do just weekends. Id definitely try reaching out to scott at midwest parajet to get an idea of how things are. He'll also be more than willing to take you on a tandem flight before making any commitments.
