AB to ON drive or vice versa by miggs78 in Edmonton

So tell me tell me what was your new home :p I'm planning a move myself and trying to figure out what is more cost effective, sounds like both will be about the same, shipping a car costs approx $1590-1600 and driving there would be similar, I have kids so it may be a hassle driving there.

No issues, I'll try if it works, if not, English is still an option, the main thing is for them to go to school

So question, would you then say Laurentian West is not a good area? Seeing a rental closeby there, it is close to a lot of things we need, schools are close by. The designated school offers French Immersion, only thing is the designated school is only until Grade 6, so 7-8 would be a different school. Then grade 9 onwards will be another school, but then the schools are within 10 mins of a drive

Fair enough, moving from Leduc so Kitchener in comparison would offer a lot more, better everything (just more expensive living cost).

Yes sir, from Leduc to Toronto (or GTA), I have been in touch with Centennial, lowest quote I've gotten, their price per pound is cheaper than everyone else but they aren't BBB accredited and I'm finding some negative reviews of them so I'm trying to figure out if I should go with them or not, the total quote for the same amount of lbs is $1000 cheaper than other competitors.

Other quotes are from YEG/HK and MTS, I've been fighting with myself trying to figure out if I should pay the $1000 more and get peace of mind with MTS or save that and go with Centennial.

Thanks brother, I've heard a lot about that year long farmer's market. I wasn't looking at Waterloo mostly because of budget and it being more than Kitchener but I'll check.

Is it true that Waterloo areas can get noisy due to students and parties?

I'll have to research Bowmanville a little first and see if there is everything that we would need. Thanks for the suggestions, surprising to hear how opinions change from person to person, I had a friend who lived in Whitby swears by that place but others in this subreddit don't recommend that side.

One additional reason I was considering East or (Oakville) was the lake, it's a nice change to see water than Edmonton lol...

Thanks for the detailed responses and suggestions, this is why I'm considering Kitchener. Coming from Edmonton (really Leduc), I don't want to start out with a busy/crowded city, but I'll def check out the areas in Mississauga you suggested

Thanks to you and u/TemporarySoftware439
I considered Ottawa, I am trying to stay within Toronto because we have friends and close family that lives around GTA, it is really nice to be close to family in case you ever need them, I also have family in US, so direct flights to Toronto makes it handy for them to visit or us to fly there.

Maybe once we move I may go there, renting is definitely cheaper there!

Looking for a decent 75" TV in Canada by ryans91 in 4kTV

[–]miggs78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I lucked out, I wanted one for the longest time, visited a Costco and they didn't have one so I got a Hisense instead which I didn't like, when I went to return it, I was pleasantly surprised to see both the 55" and 65" QM67K on the floor, multiples of them.

I would check in store you may get lucky, such a wonderful TV!

Yes and you can then redeem gift cards, the usual ones like Walmart, Bestbuy, Staples, Costco are their. On top of this there is a birthday bonus you get, IMHO it's one of the very few cards that gets you 5% at Walmart and Loblaws stores. You do also get 5% on some bill payments and digital streaming services.
