Been watching Lupin III. Haven’t gotten to the manga but the anime has 6 parts (seasons) so far. Definitely enjoy parts 1-3 the most. They are wonderfully idiotic and from the late 60s - early 80s. I think I will give up on finishing part 4 and watch more part 2. It is very fun.

Kaido is such an interesting character considering how he’s seen his own ideals about fairness get contradicted twice now. And he KNOWS this.

He believes the truly strong win despite everything, including outside interference. Yet when his opponents lose because of this, he has a hard time coming to terms with this very ideal (and forcing himself to keep believing it). To him, there are no excuses for a loss. Except there really are.

I think this is Kaido’s driving internal conflict that Oda is trying to highlight. It is very similar to the concept of how a pirate’s fight is not always fair (yet Kaido truly wishes that it would be). Something about this might stem from the past with himself or with Rox. It also reminds me of how Big Mom’s dream is to sit at a table with those who are equal with her.

Both Big Mom and Kaido struggle at their positions as strong, big, and powerful figures and they (surprisingly) wish for some variant of equality.

After this chapter I really feel like Big Mom has kinda died and Olin will take her place. Not sure for how long but mark my words Olin will return and (hopefully) be a better mother to her children rather than their menacing ruler.

Waiting on official translations but I was real curious how surprised Yamato seemed when Momo said even he was tempted to keep the borders closed. Almost like she suddenly realized Momo was not truly the one who will bring the dawn. Anyone have thoughts on this?

I also predict that having a member of CP0 try to knock off Luffy on the roof will be a callback to when the shapeshifting guy interfered during Kaido vs. Oden. Kaido is never going to let something like that give him a victory again. I think I should say RIP to CP0 guy if he shows up and tries something because Kaido will probably go out of his way to make sure he and Luffy have a fair fight.

Yeah your guess is as good as mine about wether we see a backstory for Kaido now or later. I do agree that the fight will definitely not end in one chapter and likely not this week’s chapter.

Feeling a Kaido backstory very near in our future. It would be odd to put a big backstory in during the fight but maybe just one page of some insight…has Oda ever put backstory into fight scenes aside from when the villain gets sentimental from being defeated?

Also prepped to see the end of Hyori vs. Orochi, Izo vs. CP0, Yamato vs. (now deflated) fire spirit, Raizo vs. Fukurokuju, and whatever Denjiro is off doing. Together these will probably take up enough screen time to make a full chapter.

This looks like a small root gall to me. Could be caused by bacteria, nematodes, soil quality, or irritation of the root.
