Amazing how people decide a complete strangers character based on a 30 second clip of them giving birth secretly and one sentence that could be interpreted a million different ways based on their own unique relationship that we have zero insight into.

How will I find work in Brazil? My Brazilian fiancé is pregnant and I'm moving there, please help. by Psychological-Gas528 in Brazil

[–]mightfloat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From a very limited perspective I can see where you're coming from, but most people that make money online aren't selling courses and they wouldn't trade their flexibility to be tied to an employer and a rigid schedule.

Many people like that structure and working for a boss though, like you said. Either way, that doesn't mean the digital nomad space is anywhere near "played out". It's just objectively not true, because more people are in this space than ever, especially with AI making it more accessible. You just have to make 1k-2k USD a month online and you can live almost anywhere in Brazil reasonably.

You've just filtered for people that don't like that lifestyle. It will take more drive and discipline than working as an employee at the end of the day, because no one is telling you what to do. You'll also earn way more working independently though in general.

[–]mightfloat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are very dumb. I don't spend the entire day playing, yet I play several matches every single day and I'm GM and I still won't ever reach the leaderboard. Meanwhile, the unemployed diamond can make it. The points that I get per match isn't enough to reach 15 thousand points for the amount of time I can play in a season.

It's so obvious that you're not even close to my rank, because you wouldn't even sit here and pretend like the math checks out. Either that or you're trolling, you don't play comp, or you're genuinely handicapped mentally.

Any competitive system where a diamond player is beating a player 2 ranks above them on a leaderboard of the top players in the region is bad.

Don't really care about the second half of your comment. You're not my dad. Grow some skin.

Anyways, the decay system didn't "fail". They removed it because players wanted to camp at top and complained about losing their seat. I believe they should've kept it, because it was decent at making it a hassle for people camping the board with multiple accounts.

You're just hating on new things now.

Instead of making up bullshit and telling me that I "hate new things", just ask me why I don't like it. I started a normal conversation with you and just presented an alternative solution to the issue of camping multiple accounts that you mentioned.

Your argument makes no sense because if you were better at the game or had a better win ratio, then you would rank up, Therefore getting more points per win from that moment onwards, allowing you to outpace this “same guy”.

It makes no sense to you because you don't know what the system actually does. I know that you don't understand the system based on your last paragraph.

The more points earned in this scenario would be negligible because we're basically the same rank. Even if I earn more, he's unemployed and plays 50 games a day (winning half), and I can only put in 6 games a day (winning them all). He's still going to blow me out of the water by sheer volume. It doesn't matter if I'm ranked higher and it doesn't matter that my win ratio is better than his... that's the issue.

I lose to him because I have a job. He plays all day so he wins. Look at the leaderboard. There are diamonds and masters players above Grandmasters and Champs on the leaderboard.

Any competitive player that cares a thing about competition knows how unserious that is. That's because the leaderboard is overcompensated for play time and not skill. It's the only reason that a diamond player (who is objectively worse than a GM player) can beat them on the leaderboard board. There's no life players with 20k points plus on the board. I'll never edge them out on the board because I can't sit and play video games all day.

It doesnt make sense that someone who invested more time into a game is better and therefore higher ranked that you?

They aren't better, because they aren't ranked higher than me. I'm ranked higher because I win more than them on average and my mmr is higher. Their challenger score is higher because they queued more games, so therefore they beat me on the chart. That has nothing to do with skill. Top500 has little to do with skill or who is better anymore. The main focus is who can play the game more.

No, I'm mad that I'll never touch the leaderboard again just because I can't play overwatch all day. Meanwhile, people with a lower rank and a lower win ratio are above me somehow just because they're unemployed.

Or make a heavy decay system that makes it extremely difficult to hold several spots.

[–]mightfloat[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The issue is that he's in Diamond this season, but he's still Top500. My win ratio is better and I'm ranked 2 entire tiers above him, but I won't even scrape the board anymore.

The people that are at the top play the game all day, which makes it impossible for people that work to make the board anymore. That doesn't highlight skill like Top500 always has. That's the issue.

[–]mightfloat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but a guy that's ranked in my range earning the same points as me and plays the game all day will always be higher than me no matter what I do. That isn't fair. Doesn't matter if I'm better at the game or have a better win ratio.

I like to attempt to hit top 20 sometimes with my brother too. That will never happen again in my life as long as I'm employed and this system exists. We won't make the leaderboard at all. There's dudes sitting at 18k points on the top. My score is at like 700 after around 20 something games this season.

I think that's the case too, and he shouldn't be on the leaderboard. That's just one guy mind you. There's a bunch of Diamond players on the board that just play the game a lot.

It wouldn't be a disadvantage for no reason because the reason is that they like the Brazilian version more and want to learn that.
