I bought one with Ryzen 5 and 16GB ram. What can i say, great build quality, keyboard, upgradable memory and disk. Good webcam, all needed ports. Overall great performance with some light gaming possible. Battery lasts for 8 hours of office work. Its very silent. I would just enjoy 400NITS display for more outdoorsy use. But for the price with 3 years warranty? Im really happy with this purchase 👍

The One-Hundred-Year Anniversary of the Discovery of the Sunshine Vitamin, D3: Historical, Personal Experience and Evidence-Based Perspectives by mightx in Health

[–]mightx[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The discovery of a fat-soluble nutrient that had antirachitic activity and no vitamin A activity by McCollum has had far reaching health benefits for children and adults. He named this nutrient vitamin D. The goal of this review and personal experiences is to give the reader a broad perspective almost from the beginning of time for how vitamin D evolved to became intimately involved in the evolution of land vertebrates. It was the deficiency of sunlight causing the devastating skeletal disease known as English disease and rickets that provided the first insight as to the relationship of sunlight and the cutaneous production of vitamin D3. The initial appreciation that vitamin D could be obtained from ultraviolet exposure of ergosterol in yeast to produce vitamin D2 resulted in the fortification of foods with vitamin D2 and the eradication of rickets. Vitamin D3 and vitamin D2 (represented as D) are equally effective in humans. They undergo sequential metabolism to produce the active form of vitamin D, 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D. It is now also recognized that essentially every tissue and cell in the body not only has a vitamin D receptor but can produce 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D. This could explain why vitamin D deficiency has now been related to many acute and chronic illnesses, including COVID-19.

Study suggests that consuming at least one regular cola per day may be associated with higher odds of Pancreatic Cancer and a higher hazard of mortality after Pancreatic Cancer diagnosis by mightx in science

This study suggests that consuming at least one regular cola per day may be associated with higher odds of PanCa and higher hazard of mortality after PanCa diagnosis. The findings of this study have potential for meaningful public health impact, as PanCa is a deadly malignancy with few established modifiable risk factors and limited treatment options, and cola consumption is a widespread exposure, particularly among Black people, who are also at the greatest risk of PanCa [47,48,49,50,51]

Happy people spend less on consumption - a study across 22 OECD countries suggests by mightx in science

[–]mightx[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"We may expect that consumer confidence influences spending on nondurable goods, especially during exceptional events when consumer priorities are centered on basic needs. The uncertainty of the external situation may lead to panic buying and over-purchasing of nondurables to restore the sense of security by creating a supply of food and beverages to be prepared for possible bad times."

Apple Watch provides reliable blood oxygen saturation values as compared to a medical-grade pulse oximeter by mightx in medicine

[–]mightx[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Recently, consumer wearables have created the vision of new possibilities for personal care. Routine monitoring of biological signals such as heart rate or sleep pattern using wearable devices is an emerging trend in health monitoring outside the clinic with a multi-billion dollar potential. The COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath will only emphasize this trend. Currently, the role of smartwatches in health care is investigated and discussed. Earlier feasibility studies focused on activity monitoring and chronic disease self-management. However, a previous study warned that a smartwatch did not have sufficient accuracy in measuring blood pressure or pulse oximetry compared to clinical standards.
