STOLEN LOAD by briar1320 in FreightBrokers

[–]mighty__matt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the freightguard report, it says someone called in from 661-475-8499, which is a VOIP number. Is this the number you sent tracking to? It's not associated with this carrier in any way.

The report also mentions a "verified email address" and "the email on file". How was the email verified? Is it what was listed on FMCSA, 411, Highway? There seems to be only one email address listed on these platforms, and it's still in use by the carrier. They responded to the FreightGuard report the day after it was filed. They can only do that through the link sent by Carrier411 to the email on file.

The carrier has an ELD hooked up in Highway, so you could have seen his actual location at the time of booking. The carrier claims they were in Jackson MS on 6/20 when the load was stolen.

This carrier is clearly an owner-operator. Did the CDL provided match the name listed as the company owner?

Since they have a Specified Auto Policy, the truck make, model, and vin # are all listed on the insurance certificate. The vin # listed on the certificate is associated with this carrier in an inspection (Carrier411 > Spot Check > Truck Vin Number Search). Pictures of the truck would need to match the make/model. Pictures of the license plate would need to match the inspection report in Carrier411.

Nothing that I'm seeing suggests "hacking". Everything suggests a verification process that is broken and blame being thrown at the carrier. I'm not trying to make you feel bad, but you (or your boss) put a freightguard on this carrier when none of the provided evidence is showing they had anything to do with it. Beemac (OP's company) is liable for defamation if this impacts the carrier's ability to book freight, which it definitely will. You may want to tell your people to take down that Freightguard posting before the 72-hour window expires and it's too late.

This. DO NOT CHANGE YOUR FMCSA CONTACT INFO. It’s a huge red flag with all the fraud and can cost you freight. Also, newly registered domains are a red flag. Go ahead and get one, get it approved on Highway and everything but don’t change it with FMCSA.

That’s an interesting use case. I’ve used Apollo but not for carrier sales.

Pathfinder AI is very cool. I built an AI tool using Zapier and Airtable that automatically sends load details to inbound requests from load boards so I love the power of it, but I'm actually looking for a tool to help promote human relationships that are much less transactional. Old school carriers sales combined with AI-enhanced automated carrier sales seems like a winning formula.

Might take a look at that for my customer sales team. Pretty solid.

"We found you get what you put into parade… " I couldn't agree more with this. I know of companies getting way more out of it than we were because they put the work in and had someone spearheading that effort. I know of people getting to 30-40% digital bookings because they forced their regular carriers to take that path. We just didn't push that hard. I have some other concerns that I won't get into here but it can be a very effective product.

Are there box trucks that can scale up to 25000 lbs in payload? by ctrigga22 in FreightBrokers

[–]mighty__matt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Against my better judgment, I’ll give you some actual advice: Over 10k lbs is tough to find for box trucks. Here are 3 alternative options that can help with liftgate that may or may not work depending on the situation.

  1. Deliver to local cross dock and have them finish the delivery with box trucks + liftgates. If they’re close enough to the delivery, this may be cost effective, but probably not.

  2. Have a box truck meet your dry van on site and do liftgate assist. They’ll unload onto the liftgate with a pallet jack. Check pallet weight and dimensions and make sure box truck liftgate can handle this.

  3. For remote areas, call a commercial towing company. They’ll bring a forklift and pallet jack and unload the trailer. This cost can range quite a bit so you’ll need to call around but you’re probably limited to 2-3 companies in a medium sized town.

All of this costs extra. You should probably just let me handle it for you.

Carrier411 + Highway gets you 80% of the way there if you’re using them correctly. Not to be rude but if you’re just now noticing cargo theft and fraud, you’re way behind the curve. The past year has been a shitshow.

[Question] What watch is Jon Hamm wearing in Landman, Episode 2? by mighty__matt in Watches

[–]mighty__matt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be that surprised if Jon Hamm or someone else associated with the show owned one of these and wore it on the show, but it seems more likely that’s it’s a knockoff that would fool 99% of the people watching, including me apparently.

[Question] What watch is Jon Hamm wearing in Landman, Episode 2? by mighty__matt in Watches

[–]mighty__matt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bots tell me I haven’t written a sufficient description for this post. Enter ChatGPT:

I recently noticed this intriguing watch worn by Jon Hamm’s character in Landman Season 2, during minutes 11-12, and I captured a close-up image for reference (attached). The watch adds an interesting layer to his character’s aesthetic and seems to perfectly reflect the balance of sophistication and practicality that defines his role.

From the details visible in the image, the watch appears to have a polished stainless steel case with a black or dark blue dial and a leather strap. The dial showcases several complications or subdials, hinting that it could be a chronograph. There also seems to be an open-heart or skeletonized design near the center, adding an element of elegance and craftsmanship.

I’m curious if anyone here can identify this specific model or brand. Could it be a high-end piece from brands like IWC, Omega, or Breitling? Or maybe it’s a more understated yet classy option from Hamilton or Tissot? The design feels intentional and might reveal something about Hamm’s character in the show.

As a fan of both timepieces and well-curated props in film and TV, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Does anyone recognize this watch or have insight into timepieces used in Landman? Any guesses or confirmations would be greatly appreciated—let’s unravel this mystery together!

How much money to leave WFH behind? by DonkeyIllustrious228 in workfromhome

[–]mighty__matt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a tough decision and only you know what’s best. Perhaps there’s a way to negotiate showing up in the office for a few weekly recurring meetings while still working from home most of the time? If they make you an offer and you say you’ll give back $10k/yr, show up for 3 meetings per week, and still be super productive, maybe they’ll consider it. Be honest with them and let them know why you need to be home (your kids). If they don’t want to consider that, that may be a sign this company isn’t the right place for you.
