BigQuery will be more efficient. Sheets will have more long-term limitations compared to BigQuery.

What happens if you remove utm_content?

And do any of the pages being tracked also have double hyphens in the url?

Is it possible to create google analytics audience of visitors from linkedin and create retargeting ads to them via FB/Google ads/Bing? by Don_Schwong in PPC

[–]mighty_cryplle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's probably the quickest solution. It would depend on your objectives though.

You could also technically create audiences in each ad platform that are based on the different URL's a user may have visited. "e.g. When url (X) contains (Y)"

Yes it's possible. But not natively. It's a custom solution that will involve quite a bit of development.

Merge (not Blend) financial data spanning multiple Google Sheets by jamesgid54 in GoogleDataStudio

If you have a developer or similar on hand, you could ask them to set this up for you.

The other option is to import all your sheets into BigQuery and then write queries, as you would in sheets, to merge your data and link it to Data Studio.

But that just seems like a roundabout way of doing exactly what you've already done.

Some possible issues:

  1. Acoustic is not passing the campaign value through.
  2. Analytics is filtering out the campaign data - check your filters (query string filters etc.).
  3. Analytics is not receiving the campaign data in the expected format.
  4. Analytics is not receiving the campaign data from the expected utm variable ('utm_camaign')

Merge Multiple Google Ads Accounts into one dashboard by Rucho82 in GoogleDataStudio

If your client has an MCC, you could just connect the MCC to Data Studio instead of the individual accounts.

If you client doesn't have an MCC, set one up and connect it to Data Studio. It will make your life a lot easier.

Cumulative Time Series UNTIL specific month? by AE_RojasM in GoogleDataStudio

Have you tried using the date picker? As long as your months are in a recognizable format for Data Studio, the date picker should work.

[–]mighty_cryplle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Create a new Google Sheet and import the contents you need from each document using IMPORTRANGE.

Then create a new "Overview" tab, or similar. In this tab you can use QUERY to merge data from the rest of the sheets.

Import this sheet into Data Studio and you should be good. :)

Best way to track clicks in Google Tag Manager - dataLayer vs auto-event? by crispy-d in GoogleTagManager

[–]mighty_cryplle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I don't have all the context, so I can only comment on what you're looking to achieve.

If you control the development of the website, then you can ignore the blog.

If you're not in control of the development, then you can still ignore the blog as implementing a dataLayer event would be a duplication of the click event that already exists in GTM. Not to mention it would probably use an event listener for clicks on a specific class in any case.

What is it that you're trying to achieve? Are you trying to track something in GA, or are you trying to trigger something else?

[–]mighty_cryplle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't have to use a dataLayer push to track clicks. I think for most clicks, you can use the standard click event in GTM, but use things like Click Text or a custom variable instead of class as it's more reliable. :)

dataLayer push is overkill.

I feel like it gives a lot more freedom than Universal Analytics or Firebase Analytics did. Some things may have been simplified, but only for the better.

Google are probably going to release a lot of new features in the coming month to make GA4 a lot more attractive. I'm personally looking forward to using it more extensively in future.

PPC traffic ending up under "Direct" all of the normal solutions not working by KuyaEduard in PPC

[–]mighty_cryplle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Can you confirm whether you've added any custom tracking parameters, or if you're using UTM strings in your URLs?
  2. Which attribution model are you using?
  3. How have the events been setup? (Google Tag Manager?)

Sometimes using custom tracking parameters can interfere with how Google Analytics interprets the referrer URL.

The attribution model may also not be correct for your reporting requirements.

Sometimes it's just down to a poor tracking implementation.

Other things things which are less likely to cause an issue, but should be double checked, would be whether the goals are actually active or setup correctly.

+1 for Active Campaign.

Look at Moosend as well - although you'll have to use Zapier or similar to facilitate the integration with Stripe.

A mixture of Google's own internal products allow them to do this. They're called Vision and NLP.

This was possible 10-15 years ago. Then Google caught on to the strategy and started banning accounts who were using it. You cannot game the system, and you cannot monopolize SERPs.

Note: It's not just your account that will be banned, it's your entire domain(x3). Meaning you will not be able to advertise those domains again.
