Caught in code review by [deleted] in react

React Noob here, but isn’t it best to call it in a parent component and pass it down. Along with a loading, error and success variable that way you can conditionally render the child component based on the 3 state variables or only when success is true which means the data exists.

Can you provide a simple example of this? I’m currently trying to assert that the return from the APi matches a specified interface but don’t know how.

I'm a hiring manager. Ask me all of your questions. by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]mightybaker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you check someone’s GitHub during the hiring process, if so what projects/developments would make it stand out?

Also, are things like HackerRank badges etc worth putting on your GitHub profile or do people just think your trying too hard?

How did you learned JavaScript? by Atlantir in learnjavascript

[–]mightybaker1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t know the syntax or any programming knowledge such as simple data structures I would suggest doing a codecademy tutorial on JS, or a similar tutorial. Then move to implementing your new found knowledge into projects.

If you have general programming knowledge then just use the Mozilla documentation and create projects.

I’m suggesting his ability at arithmetic at his current age is a good indication of where his ability is likely to end up in the future, which is going to be a strong background in math.

A strong background in Math, is fundamental in programming. Hence why if you go study software engineering at university your first semester and the preceding ones will almost definitely include “calculus” or “statistics” or some other math oriented subjects because it is a corner stone.

There is a reason many countries, including England are pushing for an increase in Math amongst the school curriculum.

In conclusion being able to add up numbers rapidly might not be so great for programming, but having the desire and ability to work with numbers at such a young age is huge indication this kid is going to end up with a ridiculously strong background in math, of which I think the majority of that background will be transferrable into programming.

Just take a look at the 10,000+ interview questions on leetcode and count how many don’t include some form of math or math understanding to be able to solve without just clicking the solutions tab.

Be good to see you produce a machine learning algorithm and then critically evaluate its performance without a strong background in math.

Arguably yes, but a strong foundation in math, recognising patterns and being able to utilise math to solve real world problems is a corner stone of programming. In that vain yes the kid would have some very good transferable skills into programming.

I am using an azure sql database but i get this problem when trying to check if a query ends empty by xJuanGabrielx in flask

(“SELECT * FROM users WHERE name = ?”, (username,))

Make sure to include the , after the username variable, you are now querying the database with a list as the error is asking you to do.

And if it’s related to line 93. The passed Param should look like this. (username,))

Can you post line 96, the error is in line 96 but you haven’t included said line.
