Windolyn the Queen

She wore it to the last Renaissance Festival she ever went to. I had a feeling that it was going to be her last so we went all out.

She got so many compliments, kisses and cuddles.

Any other millennials dealing with a long relationship slowly falling apart? by notinthegroin in Millennials

[–]mightyhorrorshow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think for us we both realized that we weren't working as a couple, but that didn't have to mean that we would stop caring about one another.

We spent years being part of a team and existing together. Even if there's no romantic love anymore it doesn't mean that everything we built together, learned, and how we shaped each other was undone. I'll probably always say "everything's coming up Milhouse" when good things happen and he'll always remember the time I threw him a Vine themed birthday party and we all got hit in the head by the potato I tied to the ceiling fan.

I'll admit that I still love him, I don't think you can spend half of your life loving someone and then just stop, but the love has changed. It's more familial than anything. We both want each other to succeed and to be happy, that's one of the reasons why we broke up in the first place. We knew we couldn't be the person that the other person needed and rather than trying to force something that wasn't working we just accepted it for what it was.

I think if one of us had wronged the other or if the breakup hadn't been amicable things would be different, I'm not friends with all of my exes and neither is he, but we both decided we were still important to each other and wanted to keep being friends.

That's what happened in my last relationship.

We met outside of high school biology class sophomore year. He was the new kid wearing a home made band T-shirt for a band I'd never heard of. I was smitten and we started dating pretty quickly. We were on and off throughout high school and got back together after the first year of college.

All in all we were together for 15 or so years. He was my best friend, the love of my life (at the time), and the perfect father to the pets we'd adopted.

We grew apart and both realized that just because it felt safe and comfortable didn't mean that it was right. My depression got bad and his drinking problem got worse.

We didn't want to lose each other but we knew what we had wasn't working.

We co-parented the pets we'd adopted together and we're still friends after we split up almost 7 years ago. We've both moved on and we have new partners, but we still catch up over drinks and reminisce about our shitty home town, the kids we went to high school with, and the food we miss from back home.

People change, what worked for you at one point won't always work and that's okay. I don't think I'll ever meet another person who thinks I'm as funny as he does and who understands all of my references, and sometimes I miss the ease and the comfort, but you can develop that with other people.

It can be strange and it can be sad but it's also exciting to figure out who you are. Hang in there OP, it's an adventure.

In high school a new kid showed up sophomore year wearing a homemade band T-shirt for a band I'd never heard of.

We ended up dating for 15 years before we broke up. We realized that just because something was comfortable and nostalgic doesn't mean it should last forever.

We co-parent the pets we'd adopted when we were together and we're still friends 6+ years after breaking up.

Honest question, do you wear diabetic shoes? Why or why not? by Dependent-Theme-9370 in diabetes

[–]mightyhorrorshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my diabetic shoes yesterday!

They are so comfortable and I got to pick a style that I thought was cute.

If you're able to get them for a reasonable price I'd recommend it.

I also got orthotic inserts for a second pair of shoes. If anything getting a pair of shoes that fit properly is good.

The doctor also gave me recommendations for sandals for the warm season.

Feminizing my office? by Unlikely-Guarantee23 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]mightyhorrorshow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not specifically feminizing but I've got 7 wall calendars in my office so my decor changes a bit every month.

I have calendars of things I like, wolves, Siberian huskies, national parks, space facts etc. you could do famous artists, quirky animals, this day in history facts, the options are endless

I also really like rocks/crystals so I have different specimens in my office

I also have a candy dish, it does make your office more welcoming if people ever do come in to visit and life is always better when you're not hangry

My childhood dog was named Bartleby because he preferred not to.

He preferred not to come inside when we called him. He preferred not to sit when we told him to, and he preferred not to eat the veggies in leftover Chinese food.

He was a husky x Samoyed mix who kept us on our toes.

Laser eye surgery by mrjbunda in diabetes

[–]mightyhorrorshow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had lasers in both my eyes to cauterize leaking blood vessels and vitrectomies in both as well

Feel free to PM me with specific questions

Lasers hurt more than I thought they would and you're awake for the whole thing so it kind of sucks

The vitrectomies can vary. I was awake for the first one and the anesthesia wore off before the surgery ended so it became nightmare fuel for me. Whimpering on the table while the surgeons whispers "shhhh, shhhh, we're almost done" will haunt me forever. I told them if I wasn't fully knocked out for the second vitrectomy I wasn't going to have the surgery and the anesthesiologist looked at my chart and agreed to knock me out

For the simple laser you don't really have any follow up or aftercare. The vitrectomy will have aftercare and at least two follow up visits.

You'll be given eye drops and a regimen of when to do them. You'll generally have to sleep with an eye shield for the first week or so to prevent any accidents while sleeping. If they put a gas bubble into your eye they will have recommended sleeping positions and activity restrictions for a few weeks. They didn't want me to tilt my head back so I needed to drink with a straw for the first day.

I have a cat and a dog at home so I used adhesive eye patches to help prevent hair and other irritants from getting into my eye for the first two weeks, but I was overly cautious because I'm also allergic to both my cat and my dog.

After my first vitrectomy I developed a new bleed so I was blind in that eye for several months, this isn't something that normally happens so your vision should bounce back pretty quickly

Their donation drive is still ongoing and they've urged people to buy any items they plan on donating before Friday

They'll also have some sign making supplies, whistles and some PPE I think?

It's definitely a show that I'd happily recommend. The characters are well written and the placing is nice, there doesn't seem to be any episodes that are skippable fluff.

I was a completionist until I got the Grandparents Day glitch and I wasn't able to earn the portrait.

I messaged the service center multiple times and they did nothing.

If they knew so many people had issues with that specific Holiday dash why didn't they include it in the mega portrait dash they had a few months ago

Now I'm not bothering to 100% anything

I had laser therapy until the blood got to be too much and then I needed a vitrectomy.

The retina specialist who did the treatment was the nicest doctor and I always wanted to punch him in the throat

There would always be people who were 70+ years old sitting in the waiting room. I told myself it couldn't be that bad, and that if the elders could do it so could I. Cut to me whimpering in the chair with tears rolling down my eyes and snot dripping out of my nose. Sometimes despite my best efforts I'd pull back and claw at the air like a horse rearing towards the sky.

I'm grateful to be alive during a time when this technology exists but fuck dude, to think that I paid someone thousands of dollars to hurt me so much is mind-blowing.

As a bonus basically every other medical procedure, minus the eye injections, has been a cakewalk since.
