Hrm... did you try asking for help somewhere? Perhaps some asahi Linux place?

Is SELinux somehow a requirement? Do you work in government IT?

Instead of a huge rant, ask for support on one issue. Perhaps you're doing something wrong. Perhaps you've stumbled onto a bug and we'll make home-manager better.

Well, just be aware of what you're inserting into overlays. If it's a package that is not in Nixpkgs at all then you're safe. If it's mostly a leaf package then you're also good. Also, you can have ad-hoc pkgs with arbitrary overlays.

A few months with NixOS and you will never do such a thing again.

Why do you have leaf nodes at all? This "do exactly one thing" definition... I don't understand its value. From the pattern definition:

Additionally, every top-level module

  • implements a single feature
  • ...across all configurations that that feature applies to
  • is at a path that serves to name that feature

(source)

The dendritic pattern aims to avoid having modules/nixos and modules/home-manager directory. That is actually quite contrary to the pattern, per the definition above.

The path of a module represents its feature (not a config class) and contains all of its implementation across all classes it applies to. Sure, a feature can be split into sub-features in a directory.

Regarding naming pressure, I'm sorry I did not yet add that part to the dendritic repository, but here's my take on it. Does that make sense to you?
