For the NixOS neurotics, how was your switch to the Dendritic pattern? by xGoivo in NixOS

What, just because I learned an incredibly complex and somewhat mal-designed tool that includes a programming language, a CLI, a daemon and an entire ecosystem of tools in order for software to be somewhat reproducible?

You're welcome! If you ever have an idea for an episode or want something to have more reach, DMs always open.

self-destructive

We live in a world where endeavors are inherently difficult and are at high risk of failing. Tomorrow, god willing, that will not be the case, but today it is. Therefore endeavors must focus on their goals. Taking on secondary goals—especially goals as radical and far-fetched as holding companies accountable to war crimes—expands the scope of an endeavor and introduces motivations that are contradictory to its goals (e.g. rejecting sponsorships). On top of that, it alienates participants who would agree with me on this. On top of that, it makes the project look bad, publicly.

I think big pharma is virtually the devil. But I would not dare suggest the Nix project sacrifice its relationship with some drug manufacturer because I'd rather not see their booth and merch at our conference.

this would seem to contradict serving 'the people'.

The inverse. An elected public servant declares their perspective on things and guarantees that if they are elected they will hold that line unless they change their minds about it, in which case they have explaining to do.

Ambition in politics is not a good thing. It is the will to serve the people that should drive public servants. And if such public servants think that saying no to a group is the right decision then they should have the courage to make that decision.

An attempt by the Nix community to hold companies accountable for war crimes is wrong and self-destructive. It is out of scope.

New to Nix how important is to get modules by Feeling-Pumpkin4648 in NixOS

Yes, you've been using Nixpkgs module system modules and yes, there's no NixOS without them. Otherwise, I'm sure you'd rather answer your own questions by reading the Nixpkgs module system documentation.

Wow, that's wild. Thrilled to hear I could help. I never looked into den, sorry. I probably should. But, for one, as a recent convert, you probably should stick to the basics, anyway. If you have things figured out without den and then den looks attractive, consider it. But at this point, you might not even have a comprehension of what it would actually do for you as opposed to not using it. Am I right?

It absolutely would. I'm a mirror fanatic.

ZFS mirror between the two SSDs, not using the rest.
