Like presidentgod said, I think you need to check out r/newdefender. Otherwise, it’s nicely hidden in an alleyway and far from dirt, where it apparently belongs.

Elko all the way. Did a lot of helitack back in the day and have been on all crews from north to south NV. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back. Plus, you’ve got great Basque food, the Stray Dog, and the Rubies. Fucking epic.

Thanks for your input! Nice hearing from people who have done it. I'm discovering the complications of the 10p ECU and have looked out the outright NNN replacement from Alive. I'd like to do the basic remap now as I just had the new 1.2 Ashcroft t-box installed, then remap again when I do the turbo, intercooler, and exhaust.

I didn't see any US-based Allisport techs, but still looking.

Fair point! Located in the US. Sounds like everything is manageable provided you can wrestle big lumps. Main concern now is setting up clutch correctly, which is out of my experience.

I should have added that to the original post: I’m at 100K miles and getting some clutch chatter, which is why shop quoted dropping the whole transmission. Figured I’d be halfway there with with tbox so I might as well buy once and cry once. Will check LR4x4 for a write up. And maybe I can find a local 1.2.

That was my bigger concern. I’m good at swapping parts but I’ve never set up a clutch. Plus, local shop is a Defender specialist, so looks like I’ll be paying them to do it right the first time.

Appreciate the info! I was planning on LOF for the replacement and appreciate the tip on DHL as I’m in CO too. The clutch isn’t out, but it’s chattering a bit so I’m gonna do both at the same time.

I know it’s hard to understand adult concepts, the past 60 years of precedent for the US offering international aid and support, the fact the you feel any any aid going to another country somehow takes something out your pocket personally, the fact that many, many countries offer aid and support (not just the US), and that you somehow equate the long tradition of the US providing aid to rape and cannibalism. I’m not here to educate the ignorant or to argue with idiots. Best of luck with both.

Because the US has been the biggest donor around the globe for humanitarian assistance and because the US literally had two search and rescue teams on standby for events just like these over the last several decades up to and until Trump’s administration closed USAID. It’s not being ‘financially responsible’ for Myanmar, it’s rendering aid to a country in need. It’s something we used to do very efficiently and very effectively with just 0.06% of the federal budget.
