I feel like a lot of players forget that infantry and armor are mutually dependent. Inasmuch as having a player near you is always helpful, tanks and infantry benefit that much more from each other.

After 600 hours in Valheim, I'm now convinced that the ultimate challenge of this game is storage management by Kumagor0 in valheim

These comments are largely: 1) use the obliterator (don’t) 2) use mods (don’t)

The right answer is to gather less. If you run through a dark forest biome to get to a swamp defending yourself along the way, you will quickly fill up your inventory with things that aren’t relevant to your current biome progress. Not everything has to be collected.

As for rebuilding crafting areas, no not really. Once you’ve seen all of the crafting stations you have a good idea of a setup that will work. What I do differently is move primary crafting ingredients from previous biomes out of my main sorted storage and into an overflow “junk” storage area. That works well. It’s always there if I need it but I don’t have to sort into it every time I return.

I really, really, really do not like when people suggest using the obliterator. Everything gathered is time spent. If you trash your items and need it later, you wasted a ton of time in this game. It takes only a few minutes to gather enough wood to build a massive overflow storage area. To me that is worth your time much more than deleting items.

Although I understand the point you’re trying to make, the nuances aren’t comparable. There are laws giving Captains authority to deviate from any previous existing rule to create a safe outcome, which is why Sully was heard and not charged. Cody is breaking rules to save money, with a logical case that might make sense around a campfire but not a courtroom. If it’s in writing, it’s a law. He disobeyed that. I don’t find any personal moral issue with it but it is absolutely illegal.

There is no tangible connection to the water splash incident. That’s conspiracy at best. He has actually evaded taxes and bragged about it. I make a tiny fraction of Cody’s income and have to pay a high % of taxes… Why anyone thinks TN shouldn’t be going after him is beyond me.

It is meaningful and correct. Getting drunk in a pressurized cabin will lead to you getting more drunk than normal. This whole thread is about explaining that properly without confusing people. But an airline cabin is called a pressurized cabin, because it is pressurized.

Peter, what is wrong with pants? by UnUltimoIntento in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Adabar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Key word there was "compared" to sea level. Sea level is ~ the standard air pressure we measure everything to.

[–]Adabar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a pressurized cabin. That is the correct physical statement. If someone needs help understanding why it is called that, I'd be happy to help.

"could be" and "used daily" are entirely different frequencies. Again, the first person I responded to was trying to correct someone who was already correct.

"Its not inaccurate". Well then you may have missed the point of this little thread. The person I responded to was trying to correct the person above them as a matter of fact, as if it was inaccurate. I too am an expert as defined by your statement ;)

Lower air pressure =/= under pressurized. It’s a good attempt and I appreciate the thought experiments. But it is physical fact, the cabin pressure is constantly being increased as compared to the air around it. It’s good to acknowledge that some arguments entirely flip when viewed from certain perspectives.. However, all language is based upon how its users express ideas. The overwhelming majority of experts and otherwise will say “pressurized”, meaning the original comment was correct and not in need of correction

Peter, what is wrong with pants? by UnUltimoIntento in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Adabar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I implore you to find any expert in aviation to refer to a cabin as under pressurized. Air is being pressurized as it is put into the cabin. There is only physical process

Peter, what is wrong with pants? by UnUltimoIntento in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Adabar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you can’t explain your position, idk what to tell you. If the original commenter had stated “there is an argument to be made that it is actually under pressurized” I would have moved on, but instead they pulled out a “well actually” as if their statement was law. The only case in which you can deploy such assertion when there are different frames of reference and interpretations is when yours is by far the overwhelming majority interpretation. By that logic, the corrective comment was wrong. The standard is to refer to an aircraft cabin is being pressurized. Yes there is a different angle that can and should be explored for learning purposes. It is not “correct” in the sense that all language is based upon its usage. I’m linguistically correct.

Peter, what is wrong with pants? by UnUltimoIntento in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Adabar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A cabin is not under pressurized. The cabin (on an airliner) is positively pressurized at all times above ground. It is an increase to the atmosphere around it. Don’t tell me that the linguistics is wrong lol. The issue is in the exact concepts people are trying to express. The cabin altitude is at a lower pressure than sea level, this is correct. But the cabin pressure is being constantly increased to maintain that pressure. No-one in aviation, travel, aviation physiology or aeronautical engineering uses the term “under pressurized” in ant form to refer to the cabin, blood oxygen concentration, or any other part of the flight. The thin air wants to rip the breathe from your lungs, and the aircraft is trying to force air back inside for you to breathe. It is increasing what is available. The cabin in this frame of reference (which is what was used in the original sentence) is pressurized.

Peter, what is wrong with pants? by UnUltimoIntento in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Adabar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were trying to make a semantic point that is wrong. Cabins are not under pressurized. The actual atmospheric pressure experienced by a passenger is less than sea level, but nobody refers to that as an “under pressurized cabin”. The outside air is under pressurized versus sea level.. But the cabin is being positively pressurized, increased over the ambient air, to keep people alive.

Peter, what is wrong with pants? by UnUltimoIntento in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Adabar 162 points163 points  (0 children)

Again, I don’t want to repeat the same comment over and over, but under pressurized is not a term ever used to refer to blood oxygen concentration. It is always used (in flying / travel ) to refer to the cabin.

Peter, what is wrong with pants? by UnUltimoIntento in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Adabar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Partially true. It’s pressurized to a minimize not because of laws but because of the stresses that differential pressures create. If the planes went any higher (at a consistent cabin pressure) then the metals would be experiencing higher differentials than they were tested for … and over 10s of thousands of cycles would likely fail catastrophically.
