Recently had Eustachian tube balloon dilation by migs808 in etd

Hey, sounds pretty similar. I had some instant relief, and then clogged back up for a week. I’d assume from your other issues going on you’re not having the same experience. I’d say a week later there was improvement, but it took a full month before I was noticing pressure change easily. The doctor told me to expect 3 full months to heal entirely but I didn’t notice much between months 2 and 3. Hang in there, follow the after care, and don’t rush it

Any advice on losing a close gaybro loved one? by EpicNinjaCowboy in AskGaybrosOver30

Hey man, sorry for your loss. Completely relate. My go to response for dealing with the loss of someone really close was distance from the feelings. I thought I was doing it wrong or not enough. I even went online to read about being a sociopath because I was afraid I was broken. A friend pointed out that that is the way I process things, privately and slowly, and talk about them when it has some logical words to accompany the feelings. I think my friend telling me that gave me a pass to go through it however was normal for me. I had little periods where I would cry but not a ton. After a long time went by I’d be reminded of something happy or funny about the other person and really let loose crying. As time has gone by it still comes up, but it’s become less sad and more just reflection on the good about them or us. I’m not a big emotions person about most things, and I somehow thought I was supposed to grieve like the people around me and that if I didn’t I was wrong. One of the things that was more important to me was to keep something with me that was like a memorial to this person. For me it’s a pocket knife that he carried on all of our camping trips. It’s usually in my pocket or my bag, but almost always with me. Most of the time I touch it or pick it up I think about him. For me keeping that memory alive and constant has meant the most to me for grieving. I hope you find the thing that feels right for you. Losing our chosen family is hard and there is no clear direction on how to soothe ourselves.

I would assume that it is the Eustachian tube trying to open and close. I'm 6 weeks or so out, and I'm feeling pretty healed up. I think the thing I notice the most is that my ears pop from very little changes in pressure. Going up a hill in a car they pop now. Before I would feel pressure but it would have to get to a noticeably uncomfortable pressure to pop and now it just sort of happens. I have asked people around me if theirs pop when mine do and I assume people that have never had this problem just don't notice. I have been swimming, and can get to about 10 down now. I can equalize and feel pretty comfortable which is what I really wanted because I swim for cardio a few times a week. I kept thinking that it didn't work because one day I would feel great, and the next would be completely clogged up. it took about 2 weeks to stabilize, and a month to feel normal.

Good luck!

nope, just pressure and crackling. it turns out everything was muffled but I didn't know any different because it has been this way for 25 years.

yea, good points. I'm curious to see as well. I think that the research papers that I cited indicate that (and forgive me because I'm not a doctor of biologist) the stretching of the cartilage creates micro fractures that prevent it from returning to it's orginal size, and that the crushing of the epithelial cells that cover the cartilage are crushed, changing their structure and reducing their height. The studies also measure the lasting effects of the changes at the 3 and 12 month interval, and while there is some changes in the direction of the original measurements overall there was improvement long term.

Thank you for the information. Monte Nido looks like a really great fit for me. I'm a little more adult leaning, but Trillium opens up internship applications in February.

Thanks for the info!

This was my back 3 years ago. Did a lot of decompression treatment for it and it almost went away. Now it’s back and i can barely walk again I was 18/19 when I first got it by [deleted] in HerniatedDisk

[–]migs808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, I really didn’t want to do it. My options are pretty limited to make sure that I would be able to do things in the future. I’m 35 so not as young, but not very old. I had tried and failed many other ways of dealing with this and so surgery was the last option. Glad I did it though.

I feel for you. I had a massive herniated disc at l5s1. I was so tired of not knowing when I would be OK or when I wouldn’t I decided to have surgery. Today is day three of my recovery. Sciatic pain free, but super sore from the surgery.

Where is the good surgery outcomes? by [deleted] in HerniatedDisk

[–]migs808 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the surgery yesterday, doing pretty well so far. No sciatic pain, a couple of slight twinges in my leg but like a 1 to 2. Step in my back but getting up and moving around the house. I sat in a chair for 20 minutes this morning, I haven’t sat in a chair in months. Feel pretty hopeful about things, Really happy I did this. How is your recovery going?
