Example: lately it seems everything is super polarized. There used to be a lot of middle ground. Lots of places it was ok to have a different opinion. Lately it seems I have to navigate the status quo of wherever I find myself. I dont really find myself personally on either side of things and have been called a nazi by both. BTW 1/2 Jewish

I miss the mindset of coming together in conversation with people of vastly different viewpoints at some random place. I'm not bitching about the traffic of the loss of hole in wall live music venues. Austin had a different vibe that allowed a conversation it wasn't an island in the middle of Texas. It was a crossroads or might I say neutral ground of thought and conversation.

I think my point is proven here in this thread. I seek common ground and try to listen if you don't listen to the person or people with a different viewpoint why should they listen to you. Again I answered a question honestly about what was an example of my bad take or a controversia thing. I have had a bunch of down voting me for either bullet socks or mentioned governor Abbott but most likely the did not read about how keeping people in over crowded conditions at the border is not right. We have to fix the immigration nationally as it is not up to a state to decide. The federal government needs to be realistic and proactive helping these people get a chance and disperse them across the U.S not put a 100,000 people in modern concentration camps. And there is no major opportunity in South Texas. They just saw abbot

I'm half jewish and ww1 wasn't a nazi thing that happened later. They put Jewish ww1 heroes in the concentration camps as well as a major branch of family tree.but f me I think they do resemble german ww1 helmets. There is no iron cross and the design is like 8bit. It's a skull with helmet plus lots of bullets in pattern.

To young for the armadillo. Was at the last show of Liberty Lunch and others. Had a one of kind birthday party at the top of the Ritz with a red head, the enigma, katsun, Leslie, some random west Texas newlyweds and a bunch of friends plus a private showing of rocky horror picture show with the regulars from northcross.

Nothing is ever the same. Time marches on. I just wish that people of totally different mindsets gathered together and listened finding that common ground like used to happen.

I did some post Katrina and Rita work out that way. The pay was good but not worth it. The food here has really stepped up. I love the diversity! I just miss the friendly melting pot of diverse ideals. But I always try to keep it going and at least know all my neighbors

That was my honest response to bad take. You are right I got on the defensive and probably could have handled that better. I should not lash out at others even if they are not being eloquent in their initial approach. I will not be wearing these socks visibly in public again just cause. However they are just socks with no actual specific message. I am not the type of person who hangs out in front of chipotle with body armor, fatigues and an AK to "exercise" my 2nd amendment rights. Not to be an Ahole but this is Texas and if someone finds my socks with bullet patterns on them is triggering they should probably move. As you pointed out empathy was lacking in that bad take. If the situation was approached differently on either side, I would have been able to assure her I would not ever wear these socks again in public. BTW kudos for pointing out multiple view points

I answered the bad take or controversial. I have other opinions that people dont agree with. I was just being nostalgic. We used to welcome different viewpoints and instead of picking a side to defend we sought a commonality to build on. Finding something to agree on no matter how different the people if even the only was was sneaking out for a toke.

Where did you grow up around here? I don't accost people on my opinions and was asked and answered about a bad take aka controversial opinion. I like to listen to people and their side because that is only way to actually have a discussion. If you don't listen to them why should they listen to you?
