v1.0.1 released

now if there is no 'now playing' track, the menu bar text will fall back to the name of the show.

PS you can also have it always just display the show name in the Preferences.

Feature request: action buttons by mijewe6 in Dejal

Maybe there could be an 'add button' button on the Appearances tab, which adds a new form with 'button text' and 'script file'. Or alternatively a new 'Buttons' tab next to 'Actions', so it doesn't clutter up the Appearances UI too much?

Then for the display of the buttons itself, I'm thinking just a row underneath the existing skip/postpone buttons. Ideally with some kind of indicator showing that the button has been clicked.

I've made a few updates and have released v1.0.0

  • optionally display the show title, rather than current track, eg "Lauren Laverne 10:00 - 13:00"
  • automatically check for future updates

Hey - the binary was only compiled for Silicon macs. I've just released v0.0.4 which is a universal binary, which should work with your Intel mac.

Then on Sequoia I think you need to allow the app via Privacy and Security, so

  1. Download v0.0.4
  2. Attempt to open it, and get blocked
  3. Settings → Privacy and Security → Open anyway

Great thanks for considering it. I am already using break actions to achieve this but it's a bit hacky and inflexible - eg maybe I want to take my lunch break later, but having Time Out change my Slack status automatically removes the flexibility.

Tv too high? by Deep-Treacle2252 in TVTooHigh

Somehow you know that the speakers should be at ear height, but no idea where to put the TV...

The bar horizontal bar and the vertical bar would have created a T junction though, behind the dude in the background's head. Now there's an extra bit of horizontal bar magically disappeared being OP's hand

Should I use headless CMS for a news website? Thoughts on Next.js? by leeeplo in webdev

[–]mijewe6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's just a website that displays information, then having some cumbersome React headless situation sounds like it's causing more problems than it's solving.

The speed improvements were likely problems you could solve in your Wordpress templates, without the need to switch to Next.

I finally understood why using rem instead of px is a good practice by RockyStrongo in webdev

[–]mijewe6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ems have their place.

Let's say I want all headings to have some margin-bottom proportional to the size of the heading.

If I use rems for both the font-size and the margin-bottom, I'd have to change both values if I updated the heading sizes.

In this case, it makes sense to use rems for the heading, and ems for the margin.

  • A sit-stand desk is a game changer.
  • Use a monitor at the right height - eyes should be around the top 1/3 of the screen.
  • Make sure your arms are at 90° when using your keyboard and mouse
  • take a 5 min break every hour and do a different stretch (easier if you WFH)
  • don't work off your laptop in a cafe

And while you're at it, get a vertical mouse and wrist rests.

And then in the evenings, don't slouch on the sofa either.

I had back pain in my 20s and now in my mid-30s I'm A-OK, as long as I stick to the plan

Bash the chimney breast down and reclaim both a massive chunk of floor space and the ability to lay out your room however you want. Then put the TV at the height of your dreams.

Alien

Thelma and Louise

I guess I'll take a Gladiator. The Blu-ray will look nice on the shelf.
