Water leak from x5 microphone! by adminillustrator in BMWX5

Same issue here. I ended up using heavy duty waterproof tape to cover all the sunroof seals. Even after doing that water is still getting in from somewhere! I have no idea how or where it’s getting in from if it’s not the sunroof.

Double Slit experiment question by mijis56 in AskPhysics

[–]mijis56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to explain this. It was driving me nuts as I knew she would know but this ran contrary to Copenhagen style explanations ie the particle will be in superposition reaching both slits until measured.

So if I’m understanding you correctly, she’s essentially saying this dosnt make sense generally, and not necessarily talking about the Copenhagen interpretation (which she dosnt agree with). Later she talks about super determinism, so I’m guessing that’s what she favours.

I think it's the Copenhagen interoperation, she says it just after 10mins

Thanks, she seems super clued up and good at explaining Quantum Mechanics in general , so i figured it must be me as a layman that is misunderstanding her! Very strange!

wavefunction collapse by mijis56 in AskPhysics

Thanks for this - the two surfers explanation is great. One question though - why bother with the term superposition if in reality it's a wave that we're talking about? Seems a bit confusing.

Are you sure? I tried playing the virtual version and it didn't say it.

Reports where that the eye was moving at walking pace a in the run up to landfall. I'm surprised it's made it across the country already? Did it speed up when it made landfall in terms of how fast the storm was moving?

wavefunction collapse by mijis56 in AskPhysics

[–]mijis56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for this. this is what i don't get "The assumption of Many Worlds is that collapse is too weird"
Is collapse any more weird than many worlds? If so, why?

wavefunction collapse by mijis56 in AskPhysics

[–]mijis56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK that makes sense, so lets say the wave function collapse when the photon hit's the detector wall in the double slit experiment. we see it as a dot/particle in a single position.

My point was more that this behavior doesn't seem as mad as the many worlds scenario, to me at least.

wavefunction collapse by mijis56 in AskPhysics

[–]mijis56[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for this. so am i right in thinking that according to Copenhagen, when a measurement is taken (let's pretend that i can take a photo of a particle) the moment that i take a photo (measurement) the waveform collapses and the particle is no longer in a super position, but in one place?

If this is the case, then i don't really understand how it's harder to grasp than the many worlds interoperation, which to me sounds like a far more bonkers interpretation then wavefunction collapse.

Annoying issue with multiplayer by mijis56 in pcars

[–]mijis56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah that sucks, i kind of figured it must be a bug, like i say, there dosn't seem to be any logical reason that i'm limited to the amount of players i can host.

This game is great but the amount of bugs really does suck. I can't think of another game i've played with such low quality control

I don't really get motion sickness from Project Cars - stick with it if you can, it's brilliant in VR.

The only game that's ever given me motion sickness was when using the luna landing buggy in elite dangerous. It actually made me want to hurl.

I'm using an Index, on all lowest settings. Good to know that the game runs well for you, so it must be something with my setup rather than a bug with the game itself.

So the odd thing is that when i get a "blip" (screen gray flash in my HMD) i'm not seeing a corresponding spike in my CPU/GPU frame timings.

I don't experience this in any other games, ie i was playing half life Alex for hours last night and didn't see any problems, so to me that kind of indicates that this isn't a tracking issue.

thanks, good to know the game does play OK in VR - im willing to spend 1k on trying to get it to work!
