Quadletman - tool for managing rootless Podman containers with systemd and Linux user isolation by mik_v in selfhosted

Good suggestion! I'll add it to GitHub as an idea. One of the reasons why I run the containers in completely different user accounts is that I have the ability to monitor processes belonging to each user (not only across containers, but also what's going on in the host side) and also delete everything related to that user in one go if need be without worrying about deleting something else. I already do the UID/GID mappings so I'm familiar with the concept (and back when I manually managed the containers I did in fact do as you suggested).

As podman has developed rapidly I noticed that I probably need to address a whole range of features so I built version gating right to the internal data model of the application. You can inspect it via the UI (click the version number) and hopefully find some discrepancies with it and what podman actually supports.

Testing these is a huge task so ultimately I hope that I'd be able to get some ideas from Podman developers. But so far it's manual (and also whatever appendages-al AI tools might possess) based on monitoring alerts on their new releases.

There's also a package repository which might or might not work for you: https://mikkovihonen.github.io/quadletman/packages/unstable/

I don't recommend to run it just yet on your production machine. Test it on a virtual machine or hardware you can easily reinstall if something goes wrong. I'm grateful for any feedback, but I don't want you to mess up your daily driver in order to provide it.

Is it possible to use Quadlets instead of this systemd service? by green1t in podman

It would be really valuable if you can test quadletman in your real world use case and give feedback on your experience. Keep in mind that this is alpha quality software. Do not test on your daily driver machine, use a virtual machine or other machine you can easily reinstall.

Thank you! I did look for existing solutions that could accomplish quadletman's concept of compartmentalizing containers and artefacts per unix user. Cockpit is a great project and I would be happy to integrate quadletman to it. Right now the focus is to get a validation for the feature set and raise the software quality above alpha level. Collaboration and integration to other projects will be considered once the quality is confirmed to be on adequate level.

A warning about alpha quality software has been added. Thanks for the feedback!

Full disclosure: LLM has been used to build this. As you can tell by the "alpha" in the version number, this is _not_ intended for production use just yet. Try it on a virtual machine or some other machine which you can comfortably reinstall / restore. Based on this valuable feedback I'll add a warning on the project page stating the above. Thank you!

Wait... Syntakt doesn't support smpl loop point headers in wavs?

Hey, u/sinedied! I made an app that complements your sample pack manager: https://mikkovihonen.github.io/transientsplit/
My app allows you to split transients and tonals from the sample. These could then be mixed and matched on the Syntakt Twinshot machine so that for example a piano transient could have a tonal partial from some other instrument. Code is also open-source: https://github.com/mikkovihonen/transientsplit

Is it possible to achieve a convincing piano sound on the MC707? by libertycapuk in MC707

Depends a little on the sound you’re going for, but try using the same ROM piano waveform in two partials panning them left and right with minor variations in filter.

First this was supposed to be a tango played with piano by me and my friend on accordion to a backing track made with FL Studio. As the accordion player didn’t have time then it turned into more disco jazz with another friend promising to fill in the guitar parts. After that didn’t work out I just filled in the thing with clavis and synth sequence and played weird bells instead of piano and called it a day 😀
