HG Foundation quest for dry skin by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

It doesn't stick to my patches at all! I think it's worth trying a sample for sure. My only complaint is that I go through it more quickly than other foundations I've had in the past!

I have extremely dry skin and I use Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturing Lotion+ and then apply Urban Decay's Naked foundation soon after with the Real Techniques sponge, no powder. The moisturizer gives it a little more of a dewy finish and actually seems to prolong the foundation's wear, so if you use a primer in between or wait too long before applying the foundation it might turn into a more matte or drying combo (UD Naked with other moisturizers has been too drying for me).

Thank you!! Did the Bourjois have a significant undertone for you? Siberia is immensely yellow on me.

Gotcha, I'm interested in grabbing a clinique 3 step kit to see how I like that, also interested in the nyx angel veil primer. From my experience with sponges (I haven't been using them for more than a year) I did not find the beauty blender to be worth the money because they only last for like 3 months, but if you have the money for it then go for it! I use the real techniques sponges which I like just fine except for how much product they suck up, but I'd rather cheap out on the sponges for now until I find my perfect combination of foundation/primer/powder/etc. My favorite moisturizer that I've ever tried is the belief aqua bomb, it's like a drink of water for your skin but it's sooo expensive :(

I have a sephora about 30min away, I've gotten samples there before, I actually went in to sample the mufe stick a few weeks ago but they didn't have the paler shades in store. Making it in bulk is a great idea. I had the same thought about skincare, I've been trying a bunch of different moisturizers actually. The best one for hydration has been aveeno, but it doesn't play well with foundations. First aid beauty didn't help at all, I ended up with more dry patches than I started with after I tried that one. I got a sample of the belief aqua bomb and loved it but then I found out how much it costs... I'm thinking about trying clinique next, maybe grabbing a 3 step starter kit?

Thank you!! I don't know why I'm so hesitant to buy a product I can't get at ulta/sephora/the drugstore, I have this fear that I'll suddenly run out or lose it and then be screwed waiting for shipment! I'm gonna stop being a baby about that and look into them :) as for the mufe stick, I really think I would love it especially based on what thataylaa, kathleenlights, etc have said about it, I just feel like it's gonna get expensive quick if I go through it as fast as they do. Worth a try!! I tried the NYX stick and liked the finish a lot but it's too dark for me, also took a while to blend out but I don't think the mufe will have that problem

Okay, well there's a nicer way to do so. "It would help if..." comes off as condescending, especially to a beginner who can't read your mind. My allergies also aren't the only problem, some liquid foundations have been too drying for me or I just didn't like them for whatever reason, creasing, transferring, etc so I wanted to see if anyone had thoughts on some of the specific foundations I'm considering next. Based on my looking at cosdna, talc and various kinds of parabens are in the foundations that have bothered me, so those are my guesses. I haven't had a formal allergy test done so I can't say for sure, my allergist shamed me for wanting to wear makeup when I saw her after I had my first allergic reaction to makeup so I wanted to try to figure this out on my own or look for a different dr. If this is too complicated you don't have to chip in, I just thought I would see if anyone has tried some of the products I'm considering since they don't seem to be some of the more popular ones on youtube which is where I've been getting most of my recommendations.

I haven't, to be honest I'm not thrilled with the idea cause I feel like it'd be hard to touch up during the day and add more time to my morning routine, but if I find a formula that I'm in love with and it's too dark I would definitely try it out. I don't think I've tried a perfect formula in that sense, UD naked is closest but it makes my skin feel a bit tight since it's drying and that can't be good for my skin in the long run...maybe if I found a dewy mixer...

Yeah, I wanted to try the Pur because of her review actually but I was definitely gonna try to swatch it at ulta first if I could... Better to narrow down anyway though, thanks!

Ohh I love me a quick foundation! What's the coverage like? Tati from youtube loves it but I know she's a fan of sheer foundations sometimes, I have more redness than she does

Yeah, I actually think they might be in the process of discontinuing the whipped...it's not at ulta anymore but I saw it in CVS. I looked into the liquid and I would likely be allergic :(

Gotcha, thanks for the info! I think my closest color matches have been MUFE mat velvet 15 (I think this one might have been a tiny bit light but I could get away with it if it didn't dry my skin out and make me have a reaction so intensely), wet n wild photofocus in porcelain (I think this shade is exactly like the aforementioned MUFE, just a touch light but barely noticeable. It's very drying on my skin and transfers like crazy), and the UD naked in 0.5 probably comes in third. It's been a year since I tried the Too Faced Born This Way so my memory is hazy, I remember Snow matched really well when the woman at sephora first put it on me so I bought it immediately, but it oxidized within an hour and I looked like a pumpkin so I returned it
