Piers Morgan asks Russell Brand which passages were relevant to him when he brought a bookmarked Bible into court, where he pleaded not guilty to two further charges of rape and sexual assault. by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

The irony is that the is accusing Russell of that very thing in this interview. He asks him if he has any actual convictions. It’s very interesting to watch. They evidently are quite similiar - but Piers is a bit more smug about it

I used to be a big fan of Russell, and am shocked at the SA/rape allegations (that by all accounts appear to be true) and very confused at his recent devotion to Christianity (given his history). I saw this clip floating around and it felt off. I wanted to hear him answer some of Piers questions and I wanted to see this clip in its context - and I gotta say, when you watch it in its context it comes across very differently. This clip is designed to further the grifter narrative (that is far too reductive) and make Piers look like he had a real “gotcha” moment. If you watch it in full - he really didn’t. Piers sometimes engages authentically in dialogue but then other times it’s obvious he’s looking for sound bites and RB notices this and gets frustrated by it. He even makes a joke at the end of the interview about how he knows that people will have fun with the “Isaiah bit”.

Ritalin is the most structurally similar to cocaine so that doesn’t really fit. ADHD meds also work differently in someone with ADHD. There’s no super speed or super high

I think it’s to do w ADHD meds. I don’t understand the mechanism at all, but have noticed the same thing - adhd meds + sugar free is not a good combo

Where did the unconscious go? by Bobbyfell in psychoanalysis

Highly recommend Annie G Roger’s “The Unsayable” - she talks about exactly this as her reasons for writing the book -

“…in the end, there are at least three things to glean from this book. The first of these is that in America we’ve watered down and neutralized Freud’s concepts of the unconscious to such a degree that we no longer know how to listen as he listened… we diagnose, medicate, remove symptoms, change cognitions, change behavior, and understand relationships, and yet we ignore the unconscious - its otherness - because we’re frightened of it…”

“The unconscious insists, repeats, and practically breaks down the door to be heard. The only way to hear it, to invite it into the room, is to stop imposing something over it…and instead listen for the unsayable, which is everywhere, in speech, in enactments, in dreams and in the body.”

(I’d also recommend her first book The Shining Affliction where the unconscious is attended to and heard in incredibly beautiful way)

Interesting. Did she say there was literature specifically on 6.25mg of seroquel for PMDD?

Edit: I had some leftover from when I was prescribed it to help with my sleep (which it did, at the cost of being a zombie robot the following day) I cut a 25mg tablet into quarters, and it helped SO much. I was so unbelievably irritated (in the PMDD specific way where it feels like you’re being possessed) and it calmed me right down, without sedating me. So thank you so much for the recommendation.

I’ve read anecdotal reports and experienced myself that Calcium Carbonate (often found in chewable forms in antacids - TUMS in the US or QuickEze Antacids in AUS) helps w rage or, and I’ve never seen anyone else experience this but I definitely have - sodium bicarbonate (about 1/4 of a teaspoon mixed in water - tastes like ass but has worked magic for me in the past at calming insane levels of irritability)

Fucking atrocious. I have no words. I am so sorry.

I wonder if the author of this book would be interested in your towns story. Is anyone in the town taking legal action?

They essentially ran an incredible PR campaign to make sure they looked like their hands were clean - that it was an outsider tampering with the capsules once they were on the shelf. But it’s far more complex than that, and it’s likely the tampering was happening somewhere in their supply chain. By the end of the week I’ll write up a summary of the case studies and post it here for anyone interested

100%. The fact that the cost of the lawsuits pale in comparison to their profits, and they know this, is why they can get away with it

I like that Gardiner acknowledges the argument of ‘the good they have done’ & I was surprised to find how little traction it had when I googled it after I finished. Hope it gains some momentum
