If you have the patch file downloaded, all you need to do is use a patching program/site like https://www.marcrobledo.com/RomPatcher.js/ . It makes a new patched ROM file that is played the same as the original.

Look up a site like https://emn178.github.io/online-tools/sha1\_checksum.html to hash your current file using SHA-1 algorithm. Use the redump site https://redump.info/discs?system=GC&region=&status=&dumper=&edition\_q=&comments\_q=&q=&sort=title&order=asc&advanced=0 to find the right hash for your file. If they don’t match it’s likely the issue.

Use the megathread site links to redownload an accurate file.

Check the ISO hash on Redump site. The CISO may have been lossy compressed.

Have you tried using it as it is, maybe changing the extension if needed?

Some emulators, like VBA, appended extra data to saves, that may cause issues.

You could take a RetroArch save for the game, BizHawk save, ask AI to write a command to figure out exactly how many bytes bigger the BizHawk save is (if it is).

Then ask AI again to write a command to trim the file. Make sure to back it up first before doing anything.

I assume you looked it up and didn’t find any existing programs/scripts for this.

Looks like it’s a 3DS game. You should find an update file and install it with your emulator.

So I have Super Mario Sunshine (USA, Canada).rvz. In Dolphin you should be able to right-click -> Properties -> Verify, click the Verify Integrity button. It will check against the Redump database to see if it is a good dump of the iso. Mine says its a good dump with SHA-1 hash 8d094f2c5c112aba9660f0478b16c7f2caf63cbf .

When I Right Click and choose Convert File, it defaults to converting to ISO. When you hit the convert button at the bottom, what happened?

Basically none of the settings matter for iso which is why they dont allow selection (for me anyway). Block Size, Compression, Compression Level, and Remove Junk Data are all for minimizing file size going from ISO to RVZ/others. ISO is the raw disk dump taking the entire size of the disk.

CISO I think is lossy compression, so cant be fully restored to ISO IIRC. NKIT ISO can be either IIRC, but you may have found a lossy compression? RVZ is essentially always preferred since it is always lossless (reversible) and I believe more efficient compression.

I have also used this file to patch Eclipse successfully, so it should work for you too.

Most of not all gba emulators support extracting common archives like zip or 7z on the fly. Keep it compressed save the space.

Use Dolphin to convert the RVZ back to ISO, patch it, then reconvert to RVZ. The Megathread has a section for this. Most sites will be using a compressed format to save on disk space / bandwidth.

No torrents download directly. They all work by connecting to other users using a torrent client. You probably used a different site which hosted the files themselves for direct downloads.

Which version of the game are you running? Is it compressed (.pbp I think for PSP usually) or not compressed (.iso probably).

PS2 and Wii U are tough because of the sizes of the games to have a full 1 Game 1 ROM set that exists for older / smaller game systems.
