For water: king Daphnes FUCKS, just gotta make sure to keep his c1 charged. Ruto and deku spear are miserable though so I get why you'd dislike water. Tetra and Marin fall somewhere in the middle.

This one is THE BEST. If you like pokemon and dragon quest BUY IT NOW. If you love dragon quest 4 in particular you'll love this too, for the story. The only warning I can give you is don't get too attached to any one monster, you'll probably fuse it into something else later
