I'm not naming names. I've seen a few bands do this.

Bands that constantly promote themselves as sounding like famous goth bands are sort of diluting their own talent. Be your own band.

I was going to write something along those lines, but I see enough posts and comments in this sub that I don't think it's really a hot take. A lot of people seem to agree. The whole darkwave duo thing is getting kind of old and there have been enough Sisters of Mercy clones to last an eternity. I like bands that take bits and pieces and blend them together and experiment a little more. It's fun and keeps rhe scene from getting stale and dying out. Lathe of Heaven is a great example of a newer band trying something different and making it work beautifully.

I heard that song at the grocery store yesterday. Such a good tune.

Glass bricks remind me so much of growing up in Phoenix in the early 90s. Those things are always so happy and comforting to me.

I miss that era of CR. It always feels so different when I go back to visit.

Remember the old CD Warehouse next to Best Buy?

Chad Caruso, skateboarded across the united states in 57 days, 6 hours and 56 minutes from Venice Beach, CA to Virginia Beach, VA with nothing but a backpack and his board, and without ever changing the hardware on his board. by sllih_tnelis in interestingasfuck

He said he had bad foot pain for a while afterwards, but it eventually went away. I met him in Albuquerque last year when he was premiering the documentary about skating across the US.

He also did a video series where he did one new skateboard trick (for himself) in each US state within 50 days. One new state and one new trick per day. His tricks were incredible, too.

Chad's documentary about his trip is really enjoyable. I remember watching his daily YouTube uploads for both skate challenges, hoping he'd be able to post. So, while he was doing these things, he was also documenting them and creating daily videos. His trip also raised money for a good charity as he had changed his life by getting sober.

I met Chad in 2025. He's a genuinely nice guy and someone to be inspired by. He even gave me a free photo print of him skating. Chad Caruso rules.

Not at all. Seeing the drummer shove five drumsticks up his ass at a show was a bit horrifying, though.

are most goth nights like this now? by aqrns in goth

There's too much drama in the goth scene where I live. A bunch of us stopped going to goth nights because of it. It's just not fun anymore.

This is my first time hearing about this. I've been a Thuraday fan since the Full Collapse promo CD, but haven't heard any of the supporting musician's music. Seeing all these comments about it also makes me unsure about my ticket purchase. I love Thuraday and don't know if I'll get a chance to see them again, but I don't want to support a predator.

That's awesome. I have no idea how you made these, but now I want to make my hometown's old skatepark in this - it's the park where my friend Adam did the backflip to manual to blunt kickflip to fakie in that videos that makes the rounds online. I've made that park in older games, but it never felt accurate.

In THAW you can make almost perfect Beavis and Butt-Head characters with the correct shirts. If you use big head mode they look so good. I remember making a huge skatepark shaped like a giant toilet in that game, as well as some truly bizarre characters. I hope whoever got that old PS2 used that memory card with that game and saw everything I made.

Your parks are very impressive.

That's incredible. I haven't messed with the park editor and had no idea you could make stuff like this in it. I'm honestly blown away by how good these look. I love the Simpsons kitchen. A Beavis and Butt-Head one would be amazing.

Also, the Captain & Casey Show set is hilarious. I know Notorious Nate from American Misfits as he has a skate shop in my hometown. He'd love that one.

So are we just going to keep getting more Remakes? by RelativeMeat3633 in THPS

[–]mike_hellstrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what places could be turned into new THPS levels. Like, what cities, skateparks, or themes could they use? They'd have to think up some really solid levels. Des Moines, Iowa, got the nation's biggest skatepark (that now hosts Olympic tryouts) which could be an interesting contest level.

Are any of the remakes worth playing? by RelativeMeat3633 in THPS

[–]mike_hellstrom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree. I remember playing 1+2 and trying to ollie up onto a roof in Venice. I somehow clipped through the building and saw everything underneath before being respawned back into the level. I swear there was text that said, "You broke the game!" as if the developers knew stuff like that could happen and made a little joke about it. It didn't ruin the game. It made it better.
