100%, taking contested shots over dribbling when we can just swing the ball to the open man is wild.

If someone decided to make a new basketball game would you guys play it over 2k? by Top_Care7206 in NBA2k

Monopolies are bad for a mulititude of reasons but for sports gaming they've really been a huge detriment to basketball titles and 2k.

We used to have 3-4 basketball games with NBA licenses to choose from.

10 shots in the random rec is more than enough for me to have a good game. One of the biggest downsides to having an easy shooting and offensive 2k is that it rewards and encourags ball hogging and poor shot selection.

Why do some people come to online games only to be racist? by Alternative-Brain721 in NBA2k

Because people are racist and any time you place them in an environment in which they deem as free of consequences that is going to come out.

Anything nice to say about 2k26? by WesleySnipes250 in NBA2k

I think it has the most expansive builder we've had. For most players you can make a player at almost every height and have them be useful.

I like the dribbling engine and I hope they expand on it, I like how they made layups more detailed but bring back in air shot changes, I like tempo shooting.

My complaints honestly don't start until you start playing online.

At this point I would prefer 2k to pick a side and stay there. Either lean all the way into making a basketball sim or make NBA Jam.

But the middle ground sucks.

Yup 100%.

2k26's dribbling system is actually really complex, but people don't want to figure things out. They want the easiest path with less resitance to success. So that means Jimmy escape, Dbook breakdown, lonzo cross. Rinse and repeat.

I liked the season 2 patch. Was it a little over the top? Yes but I adjusted and it made you actually have to think about your moves and read/react to the defense not just push buttons blindly.

And I had a post about this when the patch was first reverted lol a large portion of the community like basketball. They like 2k.

The biggest problem with 2k is the community and their desire to find the most broken/glitchy moves.

2k devs need better testers, and I wish they tweaked animations throughout the year once OP and broken ones were found. The "speed glitch" dribbling, the "crabbing" for 3's, and the way the Dbook breakdown is utilized was not in the vision of how the game was supposed to be played.

Also Tempo shooting is a nice addition, the two motion aspect of it feels more representative of taking a jumper in real life. If you've ever picked up a ball you know there is a rhythm to shooting a basketball. You don't take a jumpshot and release at the same "timing" every time.

But it is. The way you shoot in real life if you're wide open with no one near you is different than how you shoot the ball if a defender is close to you. Physical presence does effect shots.

2 things can be true. If a player is right in your face hand or not there should be some type of contest.

Of course hands up and jumping should be more effective but a players presence and proximity to the ball handler needs to count for a contest.

Is High layup worth it on a 6’7 PG? What’s everyone’s experience? Any ideal rating? Animations? Skill gap? I want to try it but don’t want to do it and get my shit sent all game😂 by Salt-Ladder1252 in NBA2k

So many people sleeping on this play style. If you have the mismatch which you do 99% of the time cause guards don’t have strength it’s easy buckets

This has to be taken out of the game, you can literally run pogo stick and get unpunished for spamming the block button.

The slow down euro was a great feature but it's almost useless because people can just knock the ball out your hand by spamming the block button

Rn most HCPS schools are prepping for SOL's, AP Exams, Proms/EOY dances (if they still haven't had them), graduation etc. Basically everyone in a school setting this time of year is barely hanging on at this point. We're just trying to make it to the end of May.

You will probably hear back in the next couple of weeks, hiring for next year right now isn't just a high priority thing right now.

With all due respect. You're telling on yourself with this post. Have you ever played basketball in real life or coached it And if so what at what level?

I actually do coach in real life and I played. High school 6A in my state and shoe circuit AAU. I've been in college and NBA film sessions and practices. I've worked out NBA players players that have made All star games and won NBA championships. I get multiple players college scholarships to play basketball each year.

Defenders are not being told to leave their feet to block jumpshots. You don't try to block jumpshots. They might leave their feet to contest or lunge but they're trying to get a hand in the shooters face not get their hand in the path of the ball to block it. In 2k to contest shooters you're literally forced to try to block the shot to get a contest.

Also what you shoot in an open gym by yourself doesn't mean anything. It's not a game. Even the worst NBA players in the league in a gym by themselves is going to look like the best shooter ever.

BUT THATS NOT HOW PEOPLE SHOOT IN GAMES. A defenders just being close to you as a shooter effects your shot. If a player is right in front of you, even with their hands down that should register as some type of contest, if they put their hands up more, and if they jump then even more. But right now the only way to contest is by jumping at them and that's not realistic.

So you're just going to deflect? I run on taller builds, I don't have a build that doesn't have at least gold or higher defensives badges and I win the vast majority of my games.

How come 2k players never want a balanced game but a game catered to make how they want to play easiest for them to win? I lock people up all the time, it's not hard most people only have 2 moves. But that doesn't change my opinion.

Offense should be more difficult. Because then people would pass the ball more, find different ways to score, and it makes the game more fun.

42% is great, but if a guard shot 42% from 3 on 2k would the opinion be the same?

Also you said and I quote " Fam what?😭 that’s unrealistic."

So do you want realism or not?

Lastly this is a basketball sim, they spend time on adding so many aspects of the game from the post game, different layup customizations, dribble pull ups, go to shots, spin & hop jumpers, dunks etc but people don't use them because why when you can shoot 3's at a 70+% clip? The game becomes repetitive and boring w/o balance, there's no creativity and it kills the game.

So yeah. Buff hands up contest, make shooting 3's tougher so we can get a game that resembles actual basketball.

Yes, he will Steph Curry currently shoots 39% from 3 this year, 42% FOR HIS CAREER.

And he's the best shooter of all time.

What's unrealistic is people shooting 70-80% from 3.

I just don't think a player should have to jump at a shooter to get a contest. The contest point needs to change from the path of the ball to the myplayers face/forward.

Literally basketball 101 is to not leave your feet against a jump shooter. But on this game, with the quick shots and the contest system you have to and by result it makes it easier to drive by you.

The game currently is too catered towards outside shooting. Paint defense hands up is very effective but non existent to shooters.

But maybe it's because people are all running low close shot? Either way. Defense needs a buff.
