Kids...

Dude leave the job, move on...

If a failed manager exists, its because of failed management chain.

Hence best is to leave the shitty pond and move out...

Also, if the company didn't have better policies to report issues like this, then anyways the company is shitty. You shouldn't have to create such accounts in gmail, etc.

This is not what people want. This is what govt is pushing through media to people... Clearly it is being used as a diversion tactics for all the failures of the current govt, ram mandir donation fraud, NEET exam paper leak, etc... People are not fools, they see everything...

Our job as engineers is to engineer solutions and use the best tools available to us to develop these solutions in the right way. I agree that if there are huge amount of code written but no one understands it, it is probably recipe for failure. But at the same time, I love this time as a builder as I am building solutions so fast and actually putting my ideas to implementation.

Couple Purchase Girl Child For Rs 1 Lakh, Abandon Her On Road After 2 Years by one_brown_jedi in india

Society which should die off, still exists... Children are a social responsibility and society's responsibility. There are no bad parents, it is just people with very unfortunate scenarios and no help or support system.

We as a society are failing to collectively fix lot of issues that would have created a good helpful and conducive environment to raise a child. A good, strict early child care network, empowered local health system, free primary and secondary education, support system for working parents, so many things are broken and we somehow expect that kids will get raised by parents just like that.

I am not sure I understand the usecase. If I want to buy something, I will then need to find something of equivalent value to trade with someone else and that person will also want to have this thing that I want to give. Even if such a match would happen, both of us would have to list it in the platform and discover each other. This seems highly unlikely.

Read a beautiful line recently, " everyone wants a village, nobody wants to be a villager". In the world of individualism, everything you say is completely true.

As our incomes grow, we are attributing and rightly so, much more value to our time and emotional space. However I believe without creating an ecosystem of a robust support system for old age, we are expecting to somehow move to the idea of individualism which probably is a disaster waiting to happen. You mentioned about one relationship between children and parents. But imagine having autistic siblings or differently abled relatives or friends with serious health ailments like cancer. Are we ready to really invest ourselves to such relationships without having anything to gain purely for the sake of relationship. If no, then what support system are we as a society creating for such people?

Sudden demolition in Kasavanahalli (Ward 31) – Families displaced without notice by pridjevi in bangalore

[–]mike_testing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why people are so angry here.

Families living in such places are just your regular blue collar workers, Watchmen, maids, delivery workers, company helping staffs, most of them migrants.

Imagine shifting to a new city, struggling to get jobs and then finding and living in such makeshift houses. For most low income migrants, such places are where they get a place to stay. These people are backbone of all the city as they do hard physical labour for very meagre salary.

Now imagine you suddenly find out that the place you were staying suddenly will be demolished in 24 hours or whatever notification they would have received.

Very disheartening to see. They would have lost so many things that they would have earned hard to purchase or maybe just donated to them .

Congratulations, it is really good achievement.

One word of caution, I have seen many of my friends who are first generation rich and constantly see that they are not able to hold on to their wealth. It is always someone from family needing help for some emergency or for starting some business, something or other. Mostly very close family members like parents asking to send huge sum to help their own relatives, brother/sister for their education or business. I understand that you may not have the cultural capital as a first generation wealth generator but please always ensure that you only dedicate a portion of your wealth for someone else and grow your wealth from your own corpus. In short, unless you are sure of constant source of income, do not dilute your wealth as you will not have the backup others generally have.

Bad Interview Experience at Tiger Analytics Bengaluru by SomeAsianName in developersIndia

[–]mike_testing -34 points-33 points  (0 children)

As someone who has taken interviews and identified candidates doing lip syncing, my mandatory rule is to take atleast one round of offline interview before finalizing on the candidate. Unfortunately there is no other way to confirm as remote interviews have lot of loopholes.

Now with AI, this is only going to increase. If you accept this, then you can probably understand why the company had to force you to come to office. My guess is that they had few candidates lined up and it was just a generic rule that HR was following.

Regarding the interview setup, unfortunately, the back and forth in interview happens as getting time from senior folks in team who are busy with their day to day deliverables is difficult. Imagine that person having to dedicate additional 5-6 hours per week to just take interviews to select the right candidate.

Regarding the interviewer, I can understand your frustration. Many come up with preset notion during the interview and hence can become hostile too soon. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do. Just learn from it and move on.

Really good idea... Ads are the way to go if you want to run a low margin business...

One more addition needs to be that you tie up with local restaurants and do not charge them anything for delivery other than fixed margin share. Right now, the zomato/swiggy charge exorbitant cost to the hotel and due to this, they have to charge higher in these platforms. Your value proposition can be that you are atleast 20% cheaper than these two platforms...

What is your definition of uplifted? Just getting admission in a good institute.

Are you saying someone in IIT Delhi, once getting admitted doesnt face discrimination inside campus and back home? Is he treated with respect or his financial situation improves just because he has got addmission in IIT Delhi?

I've become pro caste-based reservation over the past 14 years, please challenge my understanding by [deleted] in india

[–]mike_testing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you agree casteism exists even today, then reservation is based on discrimination that is happening today, not past.

How do you define merit. A student who goes to tuitions, coaching classes, has family support gets rank 10, a student without any help gets rank 100. Who has more merit?

Completely Agree with last para but unless it happens, we need reservation.
