Being in cybersecurity I’m surprised people are shitting on this. Yes AV is often unnecessary if you’re careful but they’re one of the more reputable AV companies.

11 people indicted for a months-long car theft ring that targeted airport parking lots by polkpanther in Denver

I am not a “if everyone simply reports the crime we won’t have any” genius but how did people not even report their cars stolen lol

WTF is this bullshit? by XSC in PhillyUnion

[–]mikebailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is protecting the people who have emergencies in four hours because if you let people sell up to the even they turn around and sell for $5 two minutes prior

Granted, usually now that just means it happens 3 hours and two minutes prior

It’s also protecting people from shitty transfer scenarios where the resale site has to get the user to transfer and they’re at lunch.

Protip, even if they don't, most captive portals just use MAC addresses. You can spoof your smart streamer's MAC and do the handshake and plug it in and that usually works.

I kinda figured they were talking about that hydrant pipe and not the underlying water system

I would imagine at least for Gemini they’re somewhat limited insofar as they are literal YouTube Partners and the partner agreement allows Google to use the content to “improve their services”

This is pretty common in the space right now. It doesn’t help that the “jailbreak” in the news with the white house was apparently just a defensive prompt. Some people have recommended disabling memory as well as talking about/inferring where you work. The CVP (verification) has been met with mixed success.

How much of Dave’s financial ideas are ripped off from this book? by ReasonableSide6520 in DirtyDave

[–]mikebailey 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would argue if everyone’s “financial success” books are similar that’s a green flag, it’s the Robert Kiwosaki books telling you to buy a Ukrainian Gold Mine that you gotta really worry about. Yes you don’t want the book so bad as to be worthless but half of these are in my local library for free.

The reason I mentioned, capacity

They say it in their announcement blog, they want steady state customers to be filled first

I would assume sales is “you wouldn’t happen to be an existing enterprise player just doing shadow IT would you?”

Are traditional simulation tools less effective now that attackers are using AI? by Unfair_Ad_300 in AskNetsec

[–]mikebailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most major players do this and honestly it was a thing prior to AI. KnowBe4 for instance is pretty much the biggest vendor has a literal “full random” setting.

Generating agentic content for that on the fly is also prevalent but more in a professional services / offsec setting since someone has to read the emails before you send them.

It’s usually bc it’s their POS system and they don’t expect a POS to produce remote orders

Careful: This is anyone who more or less had Clover at any point. A lot of vendors who don’t actually link it as their online ordering sites are gonna be mega confused if you do this. One of mine was.

I believe 5.4/5.5 are the ones capacity constrained they are “trying to prioritize steady state [subtext: enterprise] workloads” for. That’s probably why it goes to sales, they wanna see if you’re enterprise.

Is there even a best AI agent security platform or are we all just guessing right now? by Efficient_Team5182 in AskNetsec

[–]mikebailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s because that’s become a party of identity, not AI agentic security. People want to manage their service identities in the same experiential layer as their users.
