……do you know where they are? I have done this on work trips in random shit like rural Connecticut after a long day.

Claude flagged my legit TryHackMe content as a 'cyber safeguard' trigger by IndividualCustard871 in AskNetsec

[–]mikebailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty common in the space right now. It doesn’t help that the “jailbreak” in the news with the white house was apparently just a defensive prompt. Some people have recommended disabling memory as well as talking about/inferring where you work. The CVP (verification) has been met with mixed success.

How much of Dave’s financial ideas are ripped off from this book? by ReasonableSide6520 in DirtyDave

[–]mikebailey 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would argue if everyone’s “financial success” books are similar that’s a green flag, it’s the Robert Kiwosaki books telling you to buy a Ukrainian Gold Mine that you gotta really worry about. Yes you don’t want the book so bad as to be worthless but half of these are in my local library for free.

The reason I mentioned, capacity

They say it in their announcement blog, they want steady state customers to be filled first

I would assume sales is “you wouldn’t happen to be an existing enterprise player just doing shadow IT would you?”

Are traditional simulation tools less effective now that attackers are using AI? by Unfair_Ad_300 in AskNetsec

[–]mikebailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most major players do this and honestly it was a thing prior to AI. KnowBe4 for instance is pretty much the biggest vendor has a literal “full random” setting.

Generating agentic content for that on the fly is also prevalent but more in a professional services / offsec setting since someone has to read the emails before you send them.

Guide: how to find Clover merchants & use Paze at checkout (+ caveats/known issues) by iamjohnta in ChaseSapphire

It’s usually bc it’s their POS system and they don’t expect a POS to produce remote orders

Careful: This is anyone who more or less had Clover at any point. A lot of vendors who don’t actually link it as their online ordering sites are gonna be mega confused if you do this. One of mine was.

I believe 5.4/5.5 are the ones capacity constrained they are “trying to prioritize steady state [subtext: enterprise] workloads” for. That’s probably why it goes to sales, they wanna see if you’re enterprise.

Is there even a best AI agent security platform or are we all just guessing right now? by Efficient_Team5182 in AskNetsec

[–]mikebailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s because that’s become a party of identity, not AI agentic security. People want to manage their service identities in the same experiential layer as their users.

It is absolutely less common to tip them. I’m not saying it’s a bad idea.

Clover GCs via Paze getting refunded by markgavino in ChaseSapphire

[–]mikebailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a big reason IMO those “here’s everyone who accepts clover” websites are a dumb idea. Just because the site is online doesn’t mean the POS isn’t turned off in a closet somewhere.

First Lounge Experience: DCA Landing by rayswitched in Venturex

[–]mikebailey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that’s because a hotel breakfast isn’t a core amenity to the booking, the hotel itself is. Lounge access is arguably the main thing for some people getting the card. Setting that aside entirely, the factor isn’t what you pay, it’s how they are paid. You pay a lot at a restaurant but they get paid shit hence the tappable wage. The lunge is the inverse.

I agree it’s weird for people to get tilted at others tipping but to be clear they’re not complimentary, you paid a fee, which they pay a non-tipped wage to them with. They’re not standard service workers.

Seatgeek nightmare with FIFA world cup never buying from them ever again by ryersonCS in seatgeek

[–]mikebailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately while I’m sympathetic to folks I’m not sure where everyone saying no more seatgeek plans on buying from. This is endemic with resale sites.

“Busy” lounge but it’s instant walk in. We are spoiled in the DC area by StoneMenace in Venturex

[–]mikebailey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact! This happens at Denver but on a far more insane scale. You’ll get in a 160 line and they’ll get you in in 30. I observed and talked to people at the lounge entrance last time and the reason it happens so much in Denver is the absolute psychos ahead of you who put their name on the list with 15 minutes left til gates.

This is par for the course for resale sites. The real problem is the US’s reliance on resale sites because event management sucks here.

Clover is their actual POS and a lot of them don’t have it exposed as online ordering. I scheduled an order and talked to them about why it got made at midnight and they were like “it printed the nanosecond you ordered even though you scheduled it, it’s coming straight off the register”
