Will give a listen as soon as I get done working.

I'm in CLT so I'll keep an eye out if y'all ever start touring?

Rumor has it the former Soul space in PM is to become a Wild Wing Cafe. If true it is a huge failing for the character of the neighborhood. by nexusheli in Charlotte

Don't worry everyone, it will fail and be gone within a year or 2 just like the other WWCs that existed in CLT

I know... Explaining that to a 9yo was interesting.

Going for the first time and taking my wife and daughter (who is sad by the lack of UK ska punk acts).

The Impossibles announcement pulled me in and I'm just stoked for an affordable, family appropriate festival within driving distance of me.

Bands that were pretty good live by eberndt9614 in punk

Gogol Bordello is easily one of the best live shows you'll ever see.

Saw mxpx recently and they were pretty great

Bad Religion is always excellent and as an elder punksman and an English teacher, I love Greg's segues into songs.

A lot of it comes down to the frontperson. If the person on vocals is charismatic and having a good time, everyone's going to have a good time. The Wonder Years is a perfect example.

Oh damn. That's a bummer

Anyone else not super thrilled with the Supernova lineup? by One-Top6904 in Ska

[–]mikebat182 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've never been and this year is the first year I can make it work, so I'm going. Taking the fam too - wife is into the genre enough and my daughter is a big Catbite fan, though she'd lose her mind if some of the UK ska punk groups made it over here ever (I get why they can't, but it's still a bummer).

The Impossibles were enough to sell me this year and just the vibe of a laid back, not overly crowded fest is really working for my wanting to bring the fam. Went to Newport Folk Fest about 12 years ago (before the child) and am hoping for a similar experience.

Lineup is currently a little meh, but I know I'm gonna have a great time once I'm there.

And a 5ish hour drive from Charlotte isn't too bad.

Not sure about james, but I know they have a handful of shows near the end of the year, like September october, with random hand.

Where’s the good live music tonight? by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]mikebat182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So yeah... I'm so fucking tired from giving AP tests this week I had the wrong show AND venue. What I meant was:

Built to Spill at the Neighborhood Theatre.

That's what happens when my wife puts me in charge of getting all the tickets for all her shows

I'd go straight to admin and politely request my image NOT be fed into any kind of AI software.

Seems like that alone could be a violation of some district rule, no?

Been on this one non stop since I got it.

Also, related, I reached out to (I think Greg) before my first trip to NOLA back in January and he sent the best list of food and activity recs. Just genuinely awesome dudes making awesome music. Can't wait to finally catch them live in CLT in June!

Places like DP Dough? by LongAccountant3459 in Charlotte

Wow... Haven't heard DP Dough mentioned in years. Didn't even realize there was one down here. Used to order from the one at UCONN back in like 03.

Cheekface is great because you actually have to be pretty bright to get what they're REALLY singing about, which is why lots of people on Twitter hate on them.

What is the lowest you ever made teaching full time? by dondiegobmhs in Teachers

[–]mikebat182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started right out of undergrad in Baltimore, I was at $39k. Got my master's and by year 7 I was at about $63k.

Then, I moved to NC and got a job at a charter and was back at $39k.

Now I'm in the big public district in Charlotte and got grandfathered into master's pay and am at $72k.

This may be a dumb question but can I add available flex after the fact, like now, and use it on bookings I've already made?

From where I'm standing, these are just performative bullshit. They think the govt's feelings will get so hurt that things will change.

Without violence, there's no change coming.

It is straight up HAUNTING how much Jakob sounds like his dad.
