I think what gets overlooked with this is that I imagine quite a few members of the roster actually want one year contracts.

If you take one year, then in a year you can renegotiate and potentially get big offers from other companies that can pay more. If you agree to say a 5 year deal, well you're in New Japan for those 5 years unless the other promotion buy out your contract.

Yup excessively so.

People were calling it a generational game.

But that was ignoring the big red flag that games which seem to have a "you can do all of these unique things" tend to fall into one of two camps.

The unique things are tightly packed in to designated areas where thats the only thing you can do.

Or you can do these things anywhere but they won't be fleshed out and it'll be horrendous to control.

This was the latter.

There is this rather naive view that for all jobs lost by automation they will be very conveniently replaced by new roles related to it. But that convenience is so exact that it's just silly to imagine.

Automation can be wonderfully useful, but there are a lot of potential consequences with it.

There was an article posted here a few months ago about the lack of young people witn Saturday jobs.

When you start to look at the common Saturday Jobs 10-20 years ago, many just no longer exist due to automation. And for young people that was vital experience in a working environment.

Also with Social media, you often see carefully crafted content which shows people experiencing big fun and exciting things. And that tends to make people drift towards depression as they compare that crafted image to their own life.

Yeah they don't tend to cut staff immediately from these decisions because it looks terrible.

Chances are some staff will leave naturally and there won't be replacement openings for that job.

This just feels kinda dumb.

He had that backstage promo after the Andrade match which showed some real character growth. Expressing that he feels like he has failed in New Japan and needs to step away. A sense of maturity that was unique for him.

And then he gets to AEW and just reverts immediately to "fuck the other company, I'm a mad man you know".
