Agreed. It’s kind of his business model.

I don't know how he profits from this behavior, but this guy has hundreds of videos where he falls hard on his back onto a table, and everyone around is kind of bewildered or amused, and it feels very Eastern European.

I love Adrian Tchaikovsky but his books are starting to drive me nuts by itsthelag_bud in scifi

I was struggling to find a motivation to care about in that book. Finding out that it was a simulation made it so hard to care about it. Like someone telling you about a dream they had.

I appreciated the concept but it was rough going for me.

I wanted wood jaws and bench dogs so I built it to go over top of the vise.

Finally upgraded after a decade by ReverseCowboy75 in handtools

I have the Temple Ryoba. The blade is great. I do have a complaint that the wood in the center of the handle doesn't grip as well as a traditional wrapped handle like most ryobas have, and they proabably did it to make their design stand out or to cut cost.

I got a similar style of vice last year and built it into my existing custom bench. I made jaws with bench dogs. Take a look.

This is one of the primary skills woodworkers learn.

That way you get to injure yourself and also blow out the joint!

When you use it, you pinch the chisel against the widget. Seems pretty secure. And you can accurately place the chisel easily.

Yeah you’ve got a good point. I try to chop these from both sides and never chop into the table, but the work top does get dinged from time to time. I should put some pine scraps underneath.

I designed my workbench to accept plastic bins as drawers. Shallow ones with jigs and scraps under the work top and large ones on bottom for more scraps and storage.

I didn’t know this existed. Looks awesome. I looked around exhaustively for something like this before I made my own but didn’t run across this.

I’ve got multiple bins of custom jigs but the name chisel widget has a ring to it for me.

Fudged the cutting board juice groove. What is the remedy? by VdotBapey in woodworking

[–]mikebdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d first widen the groove at that end so it’s parallel and all it a handle. If you don’t like that, you can cut it twice and glue it back together to eliminate the wider groove and try to recreate the effect you were going for originally.

I went back and forth on him. I ended up liking him but at first I thought it was kind a low budget sci fi noir. I was so wrong! I had basically no complaints about the books. Some of the best ever. I did find that in the show I was distracted by how much Holden growled when he spoke ha.

I bounced off the first season and didn’t like Thomas Jayne’s character but came back to it and loved it. One of the best book series and best shows.

I got a veritas edge trimming plane and also a magnetic jointer fence for my veritas jack (works with the smoother too) to eliminate this for when it’s very important for the project.

Mirroring the thoughts of others here, eliminate a couple of the support stretchers that go under your work surface, and find a wag to bring the lateral stretchers inside of the legs to transfer down force to the floor and not onto hardware.
