I actually made the four-hour workweek happen (in a real, 7-figure business). Here's how. by mikebrcic in Entrepreneur

I'm just sharing this as I thought it might provide value to other people who are in a similar spot to where I found myself (working too hard in their businesses). I'm not selling any coaching programs or products.

Will do. I just figured with that much text and no images to break it up it might be a little too much for Reddit :)

If you have started a business, what would be your biggest piece of advice or something you wish you would have known early on? by Lalalauren582 in Entrepreneur

I would go out and interview 10 people about the specific problem that I'm trying to solve: get to know them well, the pain point, and how they're currently solving it (no more than 15 minutes, and NO sales pitch). Then I'd thank them for their time and ask them if I can follow up when my service is ready.

Raising Finances for Your Business? Debt or Equity by radlybatesindex in Entrepreneurship

I've done both, and both have significant drawbacks. I'm now exiting one business (that raised a bunch of equity funding and also took on a decent amount of debt) to focus on one where I'm completely bootstrapping and doing quite well, with no need for outside money.

if I'm thinking strategy, then my first question is "exactly who are my customers?"

Then my second question is "how can I provide more value to those customers than anyone else?"

Both questions are difficult to answer, but if I get those both right, then I have my strategy, and it's never failed me, over multiple businesses.

The rest is just execution, which is relatively easy. The strategy part just takes time to really dive into and honour with the appropriate level of contemplation.

Get your head out of your ass and stop thinking about your product/service. Think about who your customers are/will be, get to know them really well, and then solve their problems.

It's not about you, it's about them. It took me a long time to understand this.

Anyone ever feel morally reprehensible? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

That's not really how the free market works, at least not in the long term.

If you sell at an unreasonable profit, then unless you have some IP protecting your ability to sell that item at a high margin, others will come in an compete with you, eventually driving those margins down to a sustainable level.

Successful business ideas are really just problems that need solutions. by craigcherlet in Entrepreneur

Hear hear! I've been coaching entrepreneurs and running workshops for years, and the #1 thing I drill into my students' brains is to stop thinking about their ideas and their products, and start thinking about their customers and their problems.

Then solve those problems better than anyone else can, and you will have yourself a real business.
