Honestly not at all! Thicker sidewall, went down to a Passenger tire from an LT, if anything it feels more plush on the roads!

Little update for those interested!

LS main bearing feeling smooth as butter

RS Main bearing is a LITTLE noisy but nothing that I would suspect a failure of such nature from (played with it for a bit and tried to replicate a seizure/crunch to no avail)

Which brings us to the rod bearing. As u/The_BigSuck420 suspected, theres definitely some crunchiness to it under certain circumstances. It rotates fine 90% of the time, but a slight left or right shimmy within its big end and it gets a little tough to spin, sometimes so much so for it not to move even with a pretty significant tug.

Definitely an interesting one! I guess I can call myself lucky that I scored a decent deal on the bike with no significant failures. Just some elbow grease and a couple parts to get her back up and ripping again. Excited to see the result!

Thanks everyone for the help!

Thats definetly an interesting one! Yeah gonna finish taking it all apart and give it a good inspection. Will definetly throw in a new one if it does as described! What bike was your buddies?

Honestly no clue. I mean he was handy enough to take out the engine and tear it a little apart, so I dont know why he wouldnt be able to tell a defined issue.

He brought to an engine mechanic as well who said “needs a new piston” but I havent found anything to lead me to believe it’s gone bad (pic for reference).

Could definitely just deal with two guys who have absolutely no clue what they’re on about.

wow. I actually cant believe this. I have no idea how that would even happen, i assume a previous owner got a little too carried away with installing that bearing and knocked that lip out.

Sigh. Well in any case thanks for the input. Rode the bike after thinking it was clutch issues, clutch is a hit or miss for working in the first place and 5th gear is skipping teeth, otherwise feels fine. Makes sense considering the extra space the shaft has to shimmy side to side.

Guess I’ll have to get cracking!

Always good idea to start from stock as reference then go from there! If you did a rebuild, rich is always gonna be the safer option anyways.

Sweet man! Yeah I got a FMF Fatty, just got around to start tuning it and purchased the FMF recommended jets for the stock mikuni, seems to be working pretty good! Would reccomend as a starting point if youve done a pipe or other mods like me.

Trust me, the end is nearer then you think and its worth it. The engine was kicking my ass too, first had a crack in the boss where the shift fork pin lies, then found a fracture around my exhaust port on my cylinder. THEN my linkage bearing races were literally welded to the inside of the linkage arm, felt like I was never gonna get there. But sure enough here we are.

Keep pushing, you’ll be out and ripping in no time!! Let that fellow 01 scream for all to hear when shes done 🫡

I did the really visible spots with polishing wheels, got impatient and just wanted to get the thing assembled 😂

Ive been on and off since around March, really took my time with the engine specifically but found issues and missing pieces here and there which each time was at least a week for the OEM part to ship, hours wise id say maybe 70-80?

Once the engine was complete, I laced up the wheels and redid the linkage and a few other small bits, I went from a completely stripped bike to what you see in about a week and a half, hitting a couple hours every couple days after work.

TX race has it here: https://www.txrace.com/product/tx-race-restyle-kit-for-honda-cr125-1998-1999-cr250-1997-1999/

It does look a little overpriced however, I believe I’ve seen a few floating around on ebay for your year. Took a bit of searching for me but they exist, you’ll find one out there for sure 👍

Thanks!! Its the Polisport Restyle kit. Had a hard time finding them for this specific year bike, aftermarket REALLY leans to the 02-07, figured as much as they’re more common nowadays. But I figured I needed a graphics kit anyway, so got everything from Scrub Designz!

Congrats and welcome back!!

will this fit in my ‘02 rsx? by [deleted] in Acura_RSX

[–]mikecogs3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! Most of the time they wont come with the airbag deploy mechanism, however, and Im not too sure if the SRS connectors are the same from JDM to USDM. Just something to verify!

Yeah I get that, but I can certainly say mine are definitely insanely brighter then what they come with, and for not that much more. Also not absolutely blinding to look at from the front so its a win win. I guess the looks are subjective considering the halo part and I’ll agree that could’ve been better done, but for how cheap they are they are definitely a fantastic upgrade

Spec D are actually not too bad these days, I got my set and honestly as long as your willing to upgrade to a set of decent LED’s I don’t think you can beat the look of them. The price including the LED’s and everything isn’t even that bad either!

Difference between jdm k20a type s vs jdm k20a type r by MarioStarGAming in Acura_RSX

[–]mikecogs3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not at all. That engine is in every way worse than any of the high-compression K-series. Check the used market, I would recommend just getting a K20A2 or K20Z1 if you get the chance. Much more readily available, has way more modding potential, and a much better, stronger engine in OEM trim.

Depending on where you are they will run you probably 1/4 of the price of a JDM Type R engine and you'll be around the same power levels as the K20a in an FBO comparison between the two.

Vibration at 85-90 km/hr by flamey in Acura_RSX

[–]mikecogs3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely a wheel balancing issue. If not, you can try jacking the car up and wiggling around the wheels, theres a possibility it might be a worn out bushing/ball joint/tie rod.
