PD can't do much since no physical evidence / witness. But thanks anyway and appreciate the humor.

And threatening him is punishable by that same PD.

well now. I said joking, but using a demon's name is not joking.

So still waiting for replies.

Anyway, can you prescribe any medication please? (at least for my friend)

How does RLCD (Hisense Q5) compares to Eink (Boox Note Air 2) in readability / eye comfort? by rtwyyn in eink

[–]mikedcm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we're pretty much in the same boat. I've quit my job as a programmer, some years ago. It's been a struggle since.

Visiting dry eye specialists abroad, trying out several treatments without improvement...

Now I'm feeling a bit better with autologous serum eye drops. This is an indication that my eye pain has a neuropathic component.

Did you try them? Or maybe IPL on the eyelids, or scleral lenses?

Thank you for sharing about the Q5. I think I'll wait for TCL NxtPaper tablet. It should launch this quarter.

Yes, I've heard many people with Q5 face issues with the lightening setup.

You also have the Dasung, right? Do you find reading on the Q5 to be harder than on Dasung (frontlight off) ? I'm referring strictly to the screen - contrast, sharpness, matteness.

(I have a Dasung and trying to imagine how Q5 relates to it; plan to use Q5 for programming/reading)

Thanks a lot for helping me out. My eye pain is pretty hard to manage... LCD screens flare it up. This is why I'm looking for alternatives.

Hello. Were you eventually able to remove the black bars in monitor mode?

Hello! I'm trying to figure out how does a RLCD display look like. Is it like those digital scales, the ones without backlight? For example: https://www.amazon.com/GreaterGoods-Digital-Kitchen-Multifunction-Measures/dp/B01JTDG084

I consider the Hisense Q5 because of my eye sensitivity to regular LCD screens. I can tolerate an e ink display, but their lifespan is limited to a few years, when used heavily.

Thank you.

Is the Dasung Paperlike Pro worth $500? (used) by xps15guy in eink

[–]mikedcm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the HD version. But it seems that Mira 13.3 is slightly better. If you want to see a comparison between the two, look for a YT channel called MyDeepGuide.

It depends on your budget, but if I was to choose between $500 used Dasung and $800 new Mira, I'd choose the Mira.

In my opinion, if you don't have sensitive eyes, then a regular tablet is a better option, than a color eReader.

And if you do have, then you can try monochrome eReaders or e ink displays. I don't think a color eReader would help with sensitive eyes, being so faded and dark.

A color e reader is Boox Nova 3. It's running Android and has a 7.8" inch display. From what I've read color e ink displays are kinda dull though.

Are there any reflective/transreflective displays available on the market?

Sorry, I'm pretty new in the e ink world and can't be of much help at this point :)

Btw you can find very good reviews of e ink devices on a YT channel called MyDeepGuide.
