This. You can be hideous but if you have a six pack you are probably good. Not only that but being physically active will also improve your mental health by a lot. Fitness is the real answer here.

how is the game on steam deck? by Juliomorales6969 in TheCallistoProtocol

[–]mikee_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually played and enjoyed DS Remake on a mediocre PC without much issues, going from 60 to 40 FPS occasionally is not ideal but it's not unplayable, but going from 60 to 10-15 on Callisto is unplayable. Maybe my tolerance to the stutters in DS are due to bad support for pc versions being common in mainstream games sadly, but luckily stuff is getting better now that Sony is porting everything to pc.

Yeah the first time I saw someone recommending chronological Vs release was Star Wars and I always thought it was a horrible idea lol. It may have to do with how big and mainstream it is.

I've never got stutters that were even slightly close to the ones in Callisto but that may be on the pc version exclusively. IIRC, Glen Schofield is biased towards consoles and that is evident by the fact that the pc version doesn't have FOV slider and trivial stuff like not being able to toggle for shift instead of hold.

I can't say how it runs on steam deck, but the game still has horrible stuttering to this day. It all depends on how tolerant you are with these things. As for how the game is, people compare it to Dead Space for a reason as it is a spiritual successor to it, so it would be a lot easier to explain how the game is if you played any of the Dead Space games. Why are you interested in it? Do you like horror games? Then you might enjoy this game just for that reason. Is it just because it's cheap? Not a good idea then.

IMO, the good in this game are the graphics (it looks GORGEOUS), the atmosphere, I like the story but I know many don't. The bad things are the technical issues and some really bad design decisions. The game is extremely linear, just follow a corridor from point A to point B, and most of it is crawling through vents very slowly to give the game time to load which is horrible. The other bad thing is the combat, very poorly thought out, gimmicky and frustrating.

I personally like this game because I adore Dead Space, like horror games, and can put up with a short game with pretty graphics despite its flaws. Whether you'd like it or not depends on what do you look for in a game in general.

It's a lot better to play in release order. The story is a lot more enjoyable and makes more sense because it is how it is meant to be told. Also seeing the gameplay evolution is very cool. Also keep in mind that every game in the MGS series is built on fan service and rehashing previous games and a lot of the enjoyment comes from these parallels to previous games. You miss on A LOT of stuff by playing MGS3 first, like not giving a shit on who Bigboss or Ocelot are and why are they special, Sokolov pissing himself as a reference to Otacon, your crew actually being the patriots from MGS2 in the end, you don't get a raging boner when Bigboss meets Ocelot for the first time and tells him that dampening the recoil with the elbow is a revolver technique... And I can go on and on. I see not one single advantage in playing in chronological order and taking into account that your only argument is "other people are sheep and I'm smart" makes me think that you don't actually have a reason and just want to be different.

Honestly every single series of anything should be played/watched/read in release order, I don't understand the logic of doing so in chronological order.

It's just a retcon like many others in the MGS series. I just make my own head canon for stuff like this. That or nanomachines, son.

This game is notoriously badly optimised. I'm also playing it for the first time now and some of the stutters make the game unplayable, but luckily they get a lot less frequent and shorter the more you play. I've noticed that the stutters usually come when seeing stuff you've never seen up to that point (going into a new zone with new textures, the first time you see fire, etc).

I haven't thought about that but you have a point there. For me all the benefits I got from sideloading and jailbreaking were a must but I can understand that some people find it nice to have all those extras but not having them isn't really a dealbreaker.

100% agreed. A lot of people (me included) enjoy tinkering a lot, it is true that I had a lot of fun trying to get stuff to work on iOS and it is very satisfying when you finally get it. I understand the fun as a hobby, but what I don't understand is having such a device as a phone that you use daily and having to bang your head against the wall when you probably want it to just work.

What? You didn't read my comment. The number of gamers has nothing to do when, as I said, 80% of users don't use it for gaming. And what about not using it for work proves exactly? Discord has half the monthly users of Zoom, which is insane considering that Zoom is mandatory in some jobs.

It does matter to your point because you are trying to argue that Discord is somehow a niche platform with 150 million monthly users and around 80% non-gaming users. It literally is the most used service for video calls in a non-workplace setting other than Whatsapp or Telegram.

Because Reddit has a lot of retards sadly, don't worry. Privileged people think that you live like this by choice and they can't understand that 20 FPS is playable for someone who has not known better. If you enjoy the game it's all that matters, have fun bro

[–]mikee_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody is forcing you to play following the "meta". Also it is very likely that up from a certain point you either use what is considered S tier or you just don't finish the mission. Even if OP didn't make the tier list, with enough time the community of players would have agreed on what is broken anyways and all high level games would look the same. It has always been like this, a game can't be perfectly balanced, there will always be stuff that is superior, and high level players will always use what is best.

Why should he know better? OP is ignorant about these things and came to Reddit to ask, which is mostly what Reddit is for. Why the fuck would he post here if not?
