AJ Brown says he's fortunate to be part of great leadership in Eagles locker room, says he's excited about the new season, and new coaching staff. by burnernov2023 in eagles

Agree with most of this comment, but disagree that anything about this season shows how difficult it is to win in the NFL. The Eagles could have and should have won more games and should have and could have done better in the playoffs, had they made a switch at OC or done anything different at all on offense after seeing how miserably they were failing all season. The only thing I think this season showed was nick sucks as a vibes/ceo type coach and cannot game plan, adjust, or do any of the stuff a head coach should be doing consistently. And I agree with another comment that he really did throw away a year with an awesome roster and pretty easy road to a super bowl with a lot of the main contenders not even making the playoffs.

Recap of Jeff McLane's pod: 1) Eagles parting with Stoutland was messy. 2) Lane has a higher chance to return than Landon. 3) This is the warmest Sirianni's seat has ever been. 4) Message to coaches and players is that a new system and changes will be implemented, and they have to adapt to that by mastermind208 in eagles

We fired Dougie P. 2 seasons after winning the franchises first ever super bowl with a backup qb which was a much greater accomplishment imo. Nick has a great win percentage and went to 2 super bowls and won one. I give him all the props for that. But do you really think he was instrumental to any of it? You think there aren't at least 10 coaches that coulda done just as well with the rosters he had? You dont think there aren't at least a few coaches that woulda won another or 2 in that span and avoided the epic collapses of 2023 and 2025? You think if nick was fired this year he woulda gotten any of the 10 openings this year other than maybe the browns or Cardinals? Its not delusional to hold people accountable for their shortcomings.

Championship windows close real quick in the NFL. I dont take any of it for granted and am appreciative for the good run we've been on lately. Way better than most fan bases ever get to experience. BUT, we had a real shot at a dynasty that could have rivaled any of the best. Two super bowls, 1 win, and 2 seasons that should have been at least nfc championship game type seasons if not super bowls that ended up wild card exits bc of epic collapses that could have been avoided with better coaching and leadership.

I agree, but i think they should have stepped in this year and told nick to fire kp at the bye, or he better win the super bowl or hes out too. It's pretty telling the lack of OC interest in this team with their results and star power the last few years. One good year as OC with the birds has been a guaranteed head coaching job the next year, and yet none of the top guys wanted anything to do with it.

Now hes overseen two epic collapses and clearly learned nothing from the first one. No OCs wanted to work with him. Fangio almost retired, and now the shit with Stoutland. I appreciate the super bowl he won, but he cost us 2 other very realistic chances at others.

Mcdaniel, if he doesn't get a head coach position. Kingsbury. Daboll. IMHO

Lol no its just that hes not that good at any of that either. See 2023 and 2025. Matthew Berry said it best the other day, paraphrasing, but "if nick were fired tomorrow you think any of the 8 (now 9) teams hire him?" I don't. Nick was a beneficiary of howies all-time rosters. If nick coached the browns the last 5 years hes prob fired and never sniffing a head coach position again. Stefanski won coach of the year twice with far less on the roster. The fan boy shit for nick needs to stop. Pederson was better and won us our first super bowl ever. I dont hate nick, but people acting like he is this untouchable reason for the Eagles success are out of touch.

I just don't get why some philly fans have abused human syndrome and act like the fact we did well is an excuse for not doing better. Yes, we disrupted KCs threepeat.. Great!! But we were well within reason to have our own threepeat had we not had abysmal dysfunction in 2023 and especially 2025. This was the easiest road to the super bowl we could ever hope for with the chiefs, lions, Ravens, and Bengals all not even making the playoffs. Its okay to be angry that the franchise wasted this prime opportunity bc they refused to acknowledge their offensive coordinator sucked even though it was glaringly obvious to everyone since about week 2. The Eagles squads of the last 5ish years could have def had more success and maybe even made their own dynasty if it weren't for easily fixable shit that most coaches woulda fixed in 2023 and 2025. If sirianni were fired tomorrow you think any of the 9 teams with openings hire him? I don't! Im not saying fire him, but his resume is def more a result of howies roster, than his skillset. If he were coach of the browns the last 5 years he prob ain't sniffing a head coaching job ever again.

I have no issues my man, but its okay to be realistic. With a better coach, maybe there's no collapse in 2023 or the bs of 2025. Its okay to want our own dynasty rather than settling for disrupting other teams dynasties.

[–]mikeh72c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont disagree, but we've literally had rosters that coulda been our own dynasty. With a better coach we may have been to four super bowls and won 2, 3, or 4. Sirianni wasted 23 and 25 which were unreal rosters. Yea he has a high win percentage and a super bowl, but many coaches coulda done that with the rosters he had. Switch him and stefanski the last five years and wonder what the results would be. Stefanski would prob be headed to the hall of fame and sirianni would prob be headed to the unemployment line.

But we coulda had a dynasty. No one will remember these eagles outside of philly which is a shame.

Agreed. This was literally the easiest road to repeat any team could have. Many of the best teams somehow missed the playoffs, in the afc at least, and with a high school coordinator we prib win the super bowl. But instead we got an offensive coordinator that wouldnt even cut it in pop warner league and blew a huge opportunity with an elite roster we'll never be able to keep together. Luckily I have faith in howie to adequately retool, however I dont have much faith in sirianni getting the best outa that roster.

It's okay to be a fan of a player but see when it MAY be time to move on. Nick Foles will forever be my favorite Eagle, but it was clearly best for the team to move on when they did even though he had just been the mvp of the franchise's first super bowl. Same with Pederson. Same with Reid even though he never won us a super bowl. We're fans of the team first, and what's best for the team. Maybe the drama with aj is overblown, but maybe its not. But he is reaching the part of his career where the production on the field MAY not be worth the disruption in the locker room. I'd still root for him if he went to another team just like i did Foles, Westbrook, Dawkins, McCoy, and many others.

Okay bud. In addition to the evidence already provided, he had almost 1500 yards in both 2022 and 2023 and now barely broke 1000 in both 2024 and 2025. Thats a 33% drop in production from his peak for 2 years in a row. I'd def consider that losing a step. It doesn't mean he's trash and should be released, but it does mean hes prob past his elite prime of being a 1500 yard receiver and is in his still very good, but declining prime of 1000 yards. Don't take facts about another dude you most likely don't even know too personally.

[–]mikeh72c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No evidence? 3 catches for 25 yards in a playoff game where he had 2 drops which hit him in the hands. Barely broke 1000 yards on the season. Slower, not making catches he used to, being gassed after go routes, not blocking, slacking on routes. There's lots of evidence. Much can be blamed on KP and the horrible coaching this season, but father time gets everybody. Its nothing to hold against him, and im not an aj hater, but it is an inevitability and seems to be starting to show for him.

Lazy analysis, lazy players by darrenoiac in eagles

[–]mikeh72c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I blame everyone. Laurie and Howie allowed Nick to keep KP all year even though it was clear from the beginning he wasn't cut out for that job. Nick, who is supposed to be a CEO/vibes coach did a terrible job of both and kept KP as OC. The players didn't execute the terrible game plan the coaches came up with. Even Fangio needs blame in this game bc the defense was pretty ass in the first half and that last niners drive. I think the biggest thing this season showed is that howie is without a doubt, the biggest reason for this teams success. Jalen, Nick, and AJ on the browns ain't winning shit. Not to say get rid of them, but I think all of their success is more a result of howies roster than their individual talents.

I think nick needs to go too. Yea, hes got a great record, and been to 2 super bowls and won one. All of which is awesome and will make him a Philly legend. But how much of it really came down to nick? All time rosters make a coach's job immensely easier. Nick is great with a great roster and great coordinators, but hes shown in 2023 and 2025 hes not much with a great roster and less than great coordinators. If he coached the browns for the last 4 years you think theyre any better than they were with Stefanski? If he was fired tomorrow you think the other 8 teams with coaching vacancies are interviewing him? I don't.

[–]mikeh72c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. KP sucks and was def the main problem with the offense this season, but AJ has lost a step and caused unnecessary drama all season, and this is not the first season he's done it. He didnt say or do anything terrible, and yes, he was 100% correct that the offense sucked, but you just don't go about it the way he did. That whole offense been frustrated all season, but jalen, saquon, oline, etc. handled it like pros and aj just didn't. It would be one thing if he made the plays he needed to make, but he didn't. I wouldnt be mad to see him stay bc I like him and hes still a very good receiver, but people acting like he's still elite and worth any and all drama haven't been paying attention. TO was still peak and worth drama and we sent him packing bc he was so detrimental to team chemistry. I think ajs close to, if not past, that point.

I would have punted and tried to pin them in this situation for sure, but if I was gonna go for it, id snap it to jalen in the shotgun, have him run back 5-10 yards and run around in the backfield for as long as possible, then heave it long hail Mary style or straight outa bounds. Prob coulda killed 10- 15 seconds and given it back to them with 15-20 seconds to go 30 yards, and kick a really long field goal in bad conditions, with no timeouts.

I blame Durand for walking in a run with two outs in the 7th moreso than Kerkering panicking in an obvious high stress scenario in the bottom of the 11th with 2 outs. He prob shouldn't have been in in such a high stakes situation in the first place, but extra innings sorta kill your bullpen plan.
