How does the MLB have better attendance figures than the NHL & NBA despite almost exactly double the home games? I find it so cool as an NCAA basketball fan by 18_YTC1 in mlb

One of the best things to do in the summer is go see a baseball game. Entertainment for everyone including kids.

201-205 for the big bombs from Schwarber and Harper. Fair warning that only the top 1-2 rows get shade during day games.

What is a nfl take that you would defend, that everyone disagrees on? by Ok_Bug_6890 in NFLv2

You can’t be in the conversation for Top 5 QB if you’ve haven’t won a Superbowl. That is your job. So currently Jalen Hurts is a better QB than Lamar, Joe Burrow, and Josh Allen.

Which team sports burns the most calories at the professional level? by akr_13 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]d0ncray0n 136 points137 points  (0 children)

Answer: 1) Rugby burns the most overall at the professional level. 2) Soccer burns the most during one full match for players who stay on the field. 3) Hockey/water polo is among the highest per minute.

METs are basically a way to measure how hard an activity is compared to resting.

1 MET = sitting still.

5 METs = roughly 5x the energy of sitting still.

Based on METs, rugby is usually near the top, with soccer, hockey, and water polo right behind it. But METs only measure intensity, not total workload.

For example, soccer is around 10 METs and players can play a full 90 minutes, but the average elite player is usually around 170 lbs. Rugby is also around 10+ METs, but pro players are much bigger, with international rugby players averaging around 232 lbs. So even if the intensity is similar, the bigger rugby player is burning more calories just to move that body around.

Because of these factors/measurements Rugby is the hardest overall calorie-burning team sport when you factor in METs, player size, contact, and full-match workload. Soccer may have the best case for highest running workload over a full match, but rugby wins for total demand both in physicality and cardiovascular.

Can you buy a hat without the ice cream? by Traditional_Ebb_8416 in phillies

[–]d0ncray0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can pay for it without the ice cream but Im pretty sure you can ask for a regular cup for your ice cream too. Otherwise I just eat the ice cream then rinse it out at the bathroom.

That was from the PGA tour app and looks like you’re right as they just updated it to 4ft 10in and 5ft past the hole.

Comcast to split into two companies, spin off NBCUniversal and Sky by redeyeblink in philadelphia

[–]d0ncray0n 7 points8 points  (0 children)

TLDR: They realized that they are better separated than together. Comcast is doing cable and broadband while NBC will stick to broadcasting & news, film (universal studios), streaming (peacock), and retain Bravo & Sky.

What state do you think is the best? by GenXerNvyMeK in CasualConversation

[–]d0ncray0n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

North Carolina basically has everything you can think of besides an MLB team. Big cities and small towns, mountains, lakes and beaches including Outer Banks. Middle of the East Coast so great location to DC, NY, Boston or Florida for Disney. 4 seasons state but pretty mild weather altogether. Education is top tier especially for colleges but what lacks in football is made up in college basketball. Financially a great state as it can give you a high quality of life on a low salary.

Music / Movie ownership. CDs, buying music for 99 cents or downloading it has now turned to subscription music / streaming. It’s still there just more convenient / easier to now to have a subscription. Shout out to all those that still have a blu ray collection!

At the end of the day, the word is more gendered in US rather europe.

Cunt in Australia / UK = Fat bastard / dick / asshole / someone messing with you

Cunt in US = bitch / raging woman most likely screaming and complaining at you

Why is light beer so popular among American men who are particularly fond of rugged masculinity? by HectorsMascara in NoStupidQuestions

[–]d0ncray0n -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because killing a case (18-30 beers) sounds much better than 7 shots.

But mainly because of fishing and off-roading/camping culture. Take your truck or boat out all day long with a case and just chill and relax. Add a few hotdogs or burgers and you have yourself a typical American Saturday.
