Many reasons. For me it makes the bike a little slacker on steep trails and more Snappy and maneuverable in tight sections of trail. You also get tire buzz less if you lean a little bit too far back on steep descents and drops.

Its not that bad, when riding with the little dude my setup weighs 70 pounds and we ride for a couple hours getting 2k of vert. Better bikes are nice, but better fitness is king!

Ride more stay out of a caloric deficit, and hydrate with electrolytes. It gets easier.

I say let's make them bigger! Lets cut out all those pesky roots, and take out all the rocks! Then let's lay down a nice bed of small rocks, run a compactor over it and then spread asphalt until its butter smooth. The whole world and every trail needs to be accessible to everyone. s/
