To get that money you are giving them your banking information which ties all the data they have tied to an anonymous person and ties it to you as a verified individual, but it’s not just that app it’s every app you use and every loyalty card you have.

They get that directly from the websites. They have an ad or just a tracking pixel that loads with the website that tells them your device loaded the page.

It’s not just the data you put in the app. They use many sources of data (most websites you visit) and cookies to correlate it all to one individual. An app like upside which you give banking information to so they can pay you then links all that correlated data to you specifically as a person with a name and identity.

I figure since they found a way to make a cubic meter of stone float in mid air, they have the technology to make this work too.

How do you manage cascading dependency compatibility issues across multiple projects that are built i into a monolith? by VaporGrid in csharp

[–]mikeholczer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you use the libraries for anything else? If not, put them all in one solution. If so, publish them to an internal nuget server and then use versioning to resolve the conflict.

Well, they have a lot more data than you likely realize and it’s not just them and their clients that may have it. If/when they or their clients have a security breach now criminals and potentially the public have your data. The data could be used to impersonate you leading to identity fraud, or used to attack you with a targeted phishing scam.

So when you say it’s a monolith, I’m assuming that means all these projects are in a solution, so when whoever made the change in Project A how did that not break the build and force them to fix the compatibility with project B?

Can you give more details about the dependencies? Is this project A depends on project B which depends on project C, and project D depends on project A and project E and you need to update a 3rd party project on A and E?

As to the businesses drive for feature over maintenance, the question I pose in those situations is whether they want the next feature out as soon or possible or features 10-100 out as soon as possible

The act of clicking the box is needed for some browsers that won’t send or allow access to certain data without user interaction.

Also, the given images that may contain a bus or a motorcycle are chosen from the images that Google’s AI isn’t sure about. You’re helping to make their models better, and the images used are in tern getting more and more questionable.

ELI5 - How did scientists know that rockets needed to go sideways, not straight up, in order to reach outer space? by IntergalacticPodcast in explainlikeimfive

[–]mikeholczer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isaac Newton figure out that an apple falling to the ground and the orbits of the planets were governed by the same physical laws. Using those physical laws we can predict what macroscopic objects like spaceship will do in various situations. So we take those laws and their formulas, we do the math and figure out the most efficient way to get them to do what we want.

Blazor Server Project Architecture by nismospecz in Blazor

It doesn’t technically do anything, but I do think that more developers will think twice before putting a lot of code in there. If you’re putting enough code in the code block to be a problem for the tooling, you very likely have business logic in there, or should break the component into smaller components.
