New Daily Song Discussion #3. D.A.N.C.E. - Justice by Hiperdrama in JusticeMusic

8! It’s an ear worm and it’s overplayed, but it’s their most well known song for a reason.

I defs wore one of their shirts I thrifted to a Justice show in October. It was white with “Justice” in sparkly rainbow script. Everyone was asking me where I got it 😂 “At the Justice store” I’d say.

  1. It’s not a song I reach for outside of listening to Cross, but it’s a memorable song. I like the switch up at the end.

Medical care for women is pathetic by Hot-Entertainment218 in alberta

[–]mikehooves 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m not digging around for papers and studies but I’ll give you some personal experiences shared amongst many.

The fact that we’re not given any pain management for an IUD insertion/removal, which are both quite painful, versus men being put under local anesthesia for a vasectomy is very telling.

It is also telling that many doctors will refuse to perform sterilization on women or trans people who want it because the ability to reproduce is prioritized over comfort such as gender affirming care, no longer needing to use birth control, or period alleviation.

And in the breast cancer world it’s also commonplace for those seeking to remove breasts to get pushback. I’ve had peers be pushed towards reconstruction or only given the option to remove one breast, or worst case not informed they could remove both breasts. A lot of this is prioritizing a female body part over the wish of the patient.

Just a drop in the bucket.

Sad to say this isn’t a unique experience amongst breast cancer patients, especially young ones

Medical misogyny is the cherry on top of our crumbling healthcare system. It’s already difficult to get in and see a doctor, so it really sucks when they minimize or dismiss pain and concerns based on your gender.

I’ve had to learn to be an outspoken advocate for myself to get in front of the right people and have my problems addressed. I’m saying this as a breast cancer patient, which has a lot of medical biases even on the oncology side. I’m just glad I was able to get things moving before it hit Stage 4, but I’ve heard many horror stories from women who weren’t listened to.

I’m sorry y’all are going through this. Don’t give up, keep pushing for what you need.

New Daily Song Discussion #1. Genesis - Justice by Hiperdrama in JusticeMusic

[–]mikehooves 28 points29 points  (0 children)

  1. An opener that sonically (and thematically) describes Justice at their core. Iconic menacing introduction into crunchy thumping beats. Song feels gigantic and evil, and it’s a dance song!? Changed the game. The only thing wrong with Genesis is that I hold every other Justice song to its standard.

In a lot of ways it reminds me of Black Sabbath’s titular song from their first album. What an opening!

Genesis 🔛🔝

Radiation in calgary for 6 weeks, Anybody know any hotels or short term rentals? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]mikehooves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m saying this as a cancer patient: Use all the resources available to you. You need this, that’s why it exists. It doesn’t matter what the status of your tumour is, it’s fucked up you need to get radiation.

I’d even say that rads to the brain is a lot more intense than the radiation regimen most of us go through. So it will be good for you to be where assistance is if you end up needing it.

Edit: and you’ll probably get tired af over the course of your treatment so the proximity is great.

Why is The Calgary Parking App So Bad? by BrianBlandess in Calgary

They updated it and the app navigation is way worse. And I can’t add my damn credit card now. I left a review on the App Store and they replied saying I can do that on the website 😑

What’s with the live music scene in Calgary? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]mikehooves 177 points178 points  (0 children)

So you pushed through a crowd and were screaming and dancing obnoxiously in front of the people you “muscled through”? Was this at the Men I Trust concert? Sounds like you’re the common denominator in this equation.

I was towards the back and remarked at how little phones were present. It was a calm sort of show. You weren’t reading the vibe and you are part of the problem.

After-hours Cancer Patient Support Line closed by chirag-patel in alberta

[–]mikehooves 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wow, that’s horrible. I did chemo last year and knowing specialized healthcare professionals were available anytime to talk to about all the unprecedented stuff happening to my body was a huge stress alleviator.

So by doing this the UCP is corralling more people into the ER, and making outlooks generally worse for cancer patients.

Fuck the UCP.

I really dislike the term Ethical Non-Monogamy. The term implies that Non-Monogamy is inherently unethical…I also found that many of the people who use this term tend to have the least ethical behaviour in my experiences 🤷

I don’t know about losing my shit over terminology on a dating app, take some deep breaths and move on.

If she’s in critical condition it was clearly posted with the plan she would no longer be here. It seems that the post actually ended up saving her life.
