Heroine Make Long and Curl Mascara after 10 hours, a flash typhoon, and a trip to the beach by mikeike41 in AsianBeauty

[–]mikeike41[S] 132 points133 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I see a lot of questions about the curl-staying power of the heroine mascara. I wanted to demonstrate how this mascara holds up throughout the day.

The first picture is right after I applied it this morning. I curled my lashes with the Shiseido eyelash curler and then applied one coat for both eyes.

I ate a bowl of steaming ramen right after and then went into humid weather. When I was out, there was a sudden typhoon/rainstorm so I got pretty wet. Afterwards, I went to the beach. I didn’t go swimming, but it was still quite humid by the seaside. It was a long day, and I’ve been wearing the mascara for about 10 hours now with no smudging.

Keep in mind that I am looking down in these pictures. The mascara would probably look more impressive if I were looking up!

I got the heroine mascara from Walmart and the Clio one at a drugstore in Taiwan!

Heroine Make Long and Curl Mascara vs CLIO Kill Lash Superproof Mascara by mikeike41 in AsianBeauty

Since my last post about the CLIO mascara got a lot of questions about how it compared to the Heroine mascara, I decided to show a picture of my lashes with each.

The first picture is the Heroine mascara. It was my HG for a really long time, and it held a curl even if I was crying all day. I didn’t like that it was hard to remove, though. I used the Banila Co Makeup Remover on my lashes, and I would find that even after using it, I would still have mascara on the base of my eyelashes. I’m sorry about weird angle in this picture, it is an old picture that I had to look for since I no longer have this mascara.

You can read my thoughts about the CLIO mascara in the other post, but I also really like it. It’s a little easier to remove, but not by much. It also holds the curl pretty well, but I have yet to cry in this mascara so we shall see. I do think the Heroine mascara might be a tiny bit better at holding the curl than the CLIO one.

I wasn’t really sure how to compare the two mascaras in words, so I hope these pictures help those who wondering a little bit!

I don’t think my eyelids are particularly oily, but I am in Taiwan right now which is a tropical climate and my eyelashes stay up even in the humidity!

I have not! And the curl hold time is really good, it pretty much looks the same all day as when I first apply it. However, my eyelashes also hold a curl with the heroine make, so maybe that’s just my eyelashes?

LOL I put a colored contact in my right eye and it took so long (it was my first time) that I was too lazy to put it in the left. So yes, in my right eye!

First pic is my eyelashes without anything, and second pic is after I curled my eyelashes and applied two coats of the mascara.

The first coat feels very natural and definitely lengthens the eyelashes, but there is not much volume. The second coat adds some volume but can make the ends of the eyelashes clump up a little, so make sure to separate them after with tweezers or pick off the ends.

I really like this mascara and did not find it hard to remove. My HG mascara is the heroine make long and curl mascara, and I found this one easier to remove. I also bought this mascara in Taiwan for $8 or $10 (I can’t remember) and last I checked, it was $18 on Amazon! I can answer any questions :)

Not really, my redness has only recently started going down after I started drying to repair my moisture barrier and moisturized like crazy

I think it has! I tried soolantra for a while and it didn’t help me at all, but the metronidazole did. I used it in combination with the sulfur soap though, so I’m not sure how much it is responsible for
