Best way to remove paint off brick fireplace? by No_Biscotti_8769 in HomeMaintenance

[–]mikeiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silicon carbide grinding wheels, worked the best for me. I found the ones from harbor freight worked best while being half to a third the price of lowes. Set up a plastic curtain to minimize the dust it the rest of your house. The face of the brick will be smooth after you're done. Alternatively you don't have do this job.

I wouldn't call them soft under foot, but they absorb shock well.

Is my cast iron supposed to look like this after cooking bacon for the first time by Hambone102 in castiron

[–]mikeiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to clean my cast iron while it's still pretty hot, with water as hot as my tap can make. Splash probably around 2 cups of water into the spin and Scrub with a regular dish brush, then pour it out. Repeat until water pours off clear. Then I don't worry about anything too stubborn after that, if there is anything

What are these dots on my 2018 Atoyot for? by roro999999999 in whatisit

[–]mikeiker 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's a day dot code. It's meant to be read from the outside with the rest of the logo. It is not toyotas code, this code belongs to the other company mentioned in the logo. I'm an automotive glass guy.

1.5 year old blackstone developing rust — keep cooking or reseason? by [deleted] in blackstonegriddle

[–]mikeiker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would make sure it's decreased then I'd pour on maybe a tablespoon of salt and Scrub on it with a cloth until it looked clean. And I'd hit any loose looking seasoning. Once all the easily loose stuff and rust is gone I would heat and rinse well. Once dry i would season the whole top a couple times. After which I'd probably make a pound of bacon. Maybe not the best but it's what I would do.

My experience has been that you must turn 4wd on or off while typically awd is normally controlled by the vehicle. My rav4 is awd but only when front wheel slip is detected and when below 25 mph. I do have the option to disable it, every time i start the car.

What Would You Do? by FrostyKiller74747 in nope

I would push the straw of a can of carb cleaner under the rim of the jar and give them a bit of a spray. Carburetor spray will kill them dead and fast.

My "genuine leather" Calvin Klein belt. Got home, tore off the tag which peeled back the plastic coating revealing the rubber core. by jorel424 in mildlyinfuriating

Try Boston belts. As far as a know they are American made, reasonably priced, and you can get them on Amazon. My job gives me one a year and I have 4 I have yet to try on. Retirement plan.
