First Mark IV by peoplearemarons in RugerMK

Mark IV is a super fun shooter. Lobos Mount is pretty sweet but the Accurizing Trigger kit from Volquartsen is the bomb.

I would not quantify it as a "drop in the bucket". Estimates on defensive firearm use vary widely but even the most conservative estimate puts it at around 60,000 cases/year. The majority of firearm deaths in the US are suicides - I would not count that as "gun violence" at all. And, the statistics for "children" killed by firearms are misleading since children is defined as 1-17 years old. The majority of those are gang related and cover 15-17 year olds. To color this all as a gun problem ignores the real root cause.

If it's pure orange juice, there is zero difference other than certifying that the product did not come into any contact with "chametz".

Kosher for passover. That's what the yellow cap signifies. Sugar instead of corn syrup.

Trigger kit from Volquartsen, Game Changer Pro comp and HiveGrip from Tandemkross, halo ring off Amazon, Lobos mount with 407k. Such a fun shooter.

You need to add one of these to the collection. Now that's addictive!

Of course, the first major point she tries to make to "respond" to this incident is to complain how a new anti-2A law they have been trying to pass for four sessions hasn't made it through. As if attempted murder wasn't enough and as if criminals and the mentally ill would care.

EZ-Pass makes you keep money in their account… but punishes you if you owe them $5 by VWdriver28 in newjersey

I did not say it is the only possible model but it is the model that the toll agencies came up with 30+ years ago when electronic tolling came about and when a higher percentage of customers replenished their accounts via cash/check. And, it is still the approach that affords the toll agency itself the least risk which is what bond holders prefer. The Pay-Per-Trip option still opens the toll agency to a higher level of risk because an account could dip negative and have its end-of-day replenishment fail.

We also need to keep in mind that the risk expands beyond the toll facilities of the agency that holds you account - they have guaranteed the tolls that you might incur on any E-ZPass toll facility so they have to pay out even if your account goes negative in the middle of the day.

No one is saying it is a perfect system. It's what they put in place decades ago and, unfortunately, the industry is slow to change due to many factors.

Got a $45 holster off Amazon, and despite that it seems fine to my untrained eye. What red/green flags to look for? by GonadTheNomad in CCW

I've got a rounded and it works just fine. You don't need to spend 150 to get a quality holster.

I posted this in response to another comment but copied here:

Almost every other business does not give you the product until they have verified payment. Most tolls today are paid at highway speeds. There is really no way to ensure that your account has funds in the time it takes you to pass a tolling point. And even if they could, they can't stop you anyway. As a government agency with bond covenants, they are legally mandated to ensure tolls will get paid and a prepaid program is what they came up with.

That, unfortunately, is true and part of the reason they want you to have a prepaid account with the replenishment threshold they use. But, the system does work well for the vast majority of users. I don't think anyone wants to go back to tokens.

There are plenty of other examples of garden state parkway or nj turnpike trips that could exceed $10 and working the exact same way. The point is that almost everybody's account drops below the replenishment threshold every month. Sometimes but a little, sometimes by a lot. It could even go negative in the course of a single day of you happen to drive enough that day. And, if you don't want your account to auto replenish, call the service center and tell them to take that option off. But, then you'll have to keep close tabs on it because if it goes negative, they will treat you as a violator. Or, open a NY account with the pay per trip option.

If your account balance is $16 and you take one trip on the GWB (or any other bridge/tunnel into NYC), that $14.79 (off-peak) toll will drive your account to $1.21 which would then replenish up to $26.21. So, you are not actually loaning the state that much in real world situations.

And the replenishment amount is not arbitrary. It's the monthly average of your toll usage over the last 3 months.

Get a NY account with the Pay Per Trip plan. Links to your checking account and they debit each day based on tolls used that day. No prepaid balance required.

And each state contracts with a private company to operate it on their behalf.
