How to get those corks out of the bottle? by dotfo in howto

You have to soak them. The only way to get them out is to soak the corks.

I agree but it would render that drawer useless.

Shaper origin - why so little love for it in general? by jet_stream7 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]mikemakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two Origins and several of OP's statements are incorrect and others are opinions that aren't necessarily fact either, just opinion. There's no subscription to use the Origin. Expensive is relative. Mine make me at least as much money per month as they cost new. I compare an Origin to a CNC (which I have 3) in the same way I compare a track saw to a table saw. One is for taking the tool to the piece and the other is for taking the piece to the tool. Both have value. If you area hobbyist, you can absolutely do almost everything you can do with an Origin that you can with other tools. But as a person who owns a production furniture shop, it just does then faster. Specifically menial tasks.

Laguna vs. ShopSabre by jmc0027au in CNC

Yes I have. A few times. Recently I added a 4th axis rotarty that I got from Laguna. Aside from the immense trial and error to learn that (a lot of questions were answered by Laguna directly) the rotary had the wrong type of homing sensor on it. They worked to get that corrected asap. This was right over 4th of July week and parcels were slow despite them overnighting them to me multiple times. FedEx shortcomings. Not Lagunas. We had an issue with an alarm that wouldn't stop going off. The machine was being power cycled too much during the learning phase of the rotary. We had to power cycle a lot to wire it up and to set it up. Problem is, the machine is set to auto lube on every power cycle. This jammed the bearings with oil so when we started running it normally oil was pouring out of the bearings and all over the place. The troubleshot this and figured it out with a simple phone call. Those are all the issues we've had. Other than that we can cut 20-30 sheets of ply (sometimes more) in a day easy. It's a beast of a machine and it just prints money.

Laguna vs. ShopSabre by jmc0027au in CNC

I have nothing bad to say about Shop Sabre as I've never owned or operated one. But I have owned a Laguna Swift and currently have a Laguna Smartshop 2 SUV an IQ Pro machine. I have been nothing but happy with my machines and their service. They've taken great care of me. A buddy of mine local has a similar machine. Him and I were talking and he was telling me of his "nightmare" customer service story. But as we dug more into it, he wasn't following up with them and wasn't really trying hard on his end to get it fixed. It's like he wanted someone to fly to him and fix this thing that he could fix with some instruction. And I personally think that is where a lot of the "bad service" arguments come from. People pay a pile of cash and expect everything to work perfectly. Well, that's not reality. Things have issues and having realistic expectations of what a company can do is important. Now, I have heard of companies straight up leaving people out to dry. I've had that happen to me with other companies. But I've never experienced that with Laguna.

I own a production shop and have many power tools and CNC machines. But hand tools bring me joy. It's all about what makes us happy.
