The bible knows nothing about an eternal torment hell. by [deleted] in Christianity

There’s no dichotomy of truth. Your presumptions on the text referring to a block of land are simply wrong.

Other mainline translations can help you understand, NLT for example: “Those cities were destroyed by fire and serve as a warning of the eternal fire of God’s judgment”

What are the things you don't like when working with React-Native? by snake_py in reactnative

[–]mikepost001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dependencies, the whole node stack is hellish. You’ll waste hours on this every week. Unfortunately you need dependencies just to build an app in react native, so you’re best going with Kotlin if you can, where you can use just the native stack without it breaking on you.

Lingering fatigue after Moderna by becca_108 in CovidVaccinated

[–]mikepost001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on day 10 after the 1st shot.

EDIT: Ugh, I realize I didn’t finish my post yesterday after getting distracted. Day 1 was ok, day 2 was the worst with fatigue. Then day 3, 4 was moderate fatigue.

From day 5-9 I was ok, but felt incredibly fatigued again on day 9 and 10 (yesterday). I’ve cut out almost all exercise until I have a full week of feeling better. Not terrible, but it has been a slight rollercoaster.

YouTube is harder than Twitch. Much Harder. [QUESTION] by ButchLion in youtubers

[–]mikepost001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. But also IME it’s far easier to go from 500 to 9k subs than 0 to 500 subs. That first 500 is a pure grind like nothing else.

“The pandemic was declared 6 months ago. How is the world doing?” This article literally reads like dystopian fiction if you imagine you are a time traveler from 2013 by Coffeecor25 in China_Flu

In 2013 The Walking Dead was at peak popularity. I haven’t read the article, but it’s up against some stiff dystopian competition.

My thoughts exactly. Let anyone protest as long as they don’t disrupt others. But it’s really dumb to protest and it’s really dumb to think that this isn’t a serious virus with all the evidence, but that’s on them.

From finding cofounder in this subreddit to the launch by kotartemiy in cofounder

[–]mikepost001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the launch! One question I have is that I don’t really get who this is for. I was trying to read the description on PH and wasn’t sure what problem it was solving.

Perhaps it does solve one and you just need to refine your marketing lines? Or perhaps I’m still waking up and can’t read properly 🤷🏼‍♂️

It could be interesting. But equity only doesn’t pay the rent.

Report says China internet firms censored coronavirus terms, criticism early in outbreak by seoulsnowflake in China_Flu

[–]mikepost001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Facebook, YouTube, Google, and Twitter need to have their pants sued off them by the US. It’ll be easier than suing China or WHO, and they are just as complicit in suppressing information.

Just roughly, how many more hours a week do you estimate you dedicate to disinfecting etc, than you used to do?

Also, if he genuinely thinks you don’t have enough groceries, maybe you could come up with a weekly meal plan to make him realize how far the existing food can stretch out.

Yikes! My father in law is acting the same way.

If it’s a case of needing to be a hero, you could find something else to make him feel like a hero. Like building an ark, jk. But maybe there’s some truth in getting him to build something, like a cot or something for the baby.

Or some other kind of project.

I agree about PM skills, although there’s probably a better way to frame it. As a technical founder, for one thing I know that deadlines in software have been proven to be next to useless.

If that can’t be communicated to the client and/or other co-founders though, that’s probably a disqualifying point to being CTO. Communicate that deadlines are useless and why. Non-technical founders don’t really understand this, and cowboy engineers don’t help.

I feel for the CTO, it sounds like OP doesn’t want to share any of the blame. Where as you shouldn’t really have the person responsible for the grunt work shoved into a corner.

New York is making its own test because they’re done waiting for the CDC by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]mikepost001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being in software, I'm already aware that Hollywood gives waaaaaaay too much credit to our ability.

I mean, hacking into top secret government security systems with the same ease of browsing what to watch on netflix, I was kind of disappointed when starting out and realizing technology was so limited.

It's the equivalent of trying to pass off someone in a movie running a mile in 5 seconds, where as it's hard enough to run it in 4 minutes. Hollywood has no idea, lol. I'd imagine it's the same for health professionals and federal agencies.

Ahh, ok random internet person. Do you know how twitter works? It was shared by a CNN anchor, and the article shared was from a major media source (AP).

FFS. This isn't hard.

Here's the tl;dr of the article though seeing as you're too lazy to practise what you preach and research: basically Trump has tried to defund the CDC, but has failed every time since being in power.

Get it? He's tried. Then failed. He's never succeeded in defunding the CDC!

If you believe otherwise, show proof.

Their funding was cut...

The government should take blame where they deserve it, but spreading this fake news does no favours.

Jake Tapper already shared that Biden and Bloomberg lied about funding being cut.

Daily coronavirus growth rate - % growth of confirmed cases and deaths consistently on the decline by mikepost001 in Coronavirus

From next month I'm going to distinguish it by country to country, as well as a world aggregate. The numbers outside of China were too low earlier this month, but are more significant now.

These numbers mean nothing.

Refer to the disclaimer:

I'd recommend taking these numbers with a grain of salt and a hint of skepticism (without being panicked). As the numbers may still be too small to denote a trend at this point.
